To get to the other side of Tam Giang lagoon, people still have to travel by boat at Con Toc and Vinh Tu wharves, which poses a potential safety risk, especially during the rainy and stormy season.

Vinh Tu Bridge has long been the hope of many generations of leaders and people of the old Quang Dien district. Because currently, to cross to the other side of Tam Giang lagoon, people still have to travel by boat at Con Toc and Vinh Tu wharfs, which is potentially unsafe, especially during the rainy and stormy season. Therefore, the authorities have made a proposal to approve the investment policy of Vinh Tu bridge across Tam Giang lagoon.

According to the plan, the project has its starting point at the intersection of Provincial Road 4 (Km 18+800, coinciding with Provincial Road 19 - Nguyen Vinh Street, Quang Dien Commune), about 330m from the entrance to Con Toc ferry terminal. The end point is at the intersection of National Highway 49B with the planned coastal route (Km 20+500, Phong Quang Ward), about 450m from Vinh Tu ferry terminal.

The project has a total length of about 3,240m, of which the bridge is 2,360m long, the approach road at both ends of the bridge is about 880m long. The cross-section of the bridge and the approach road is 15.5m wide. The project will be invested in synchronous technical infrastructure including sidewalks, trees, lighting, drainage system and items to ensure traffic safety.

Total investment is expected to be more than 1,500 billion VND, of which construction costs account for about 1,200 billion VND.
