The 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship will take place from August 17 to August 26 in Thailand.
U23 Vietnam is ready for U23 Southeast Asia 2023.
This year's tournament has 10 participating teams, divided into 3 groups (two groups of 3 teams and one group of 4 teams).
U23 Vietnam is in group C, with U23 Laos and U23 Philippines.
Meanwhile, U23 Thailand will face Myanmar, Brunei and Cambodia in Group A. Group B has the participation of U23 Indonesia, Malaysia and East Timor.
According to the schedule, U23 Vietnam will face Laos (August 20) and the Philippines (August 22).
In this tournament, U23 Vietnam participated with the main players being U20 players, led by coach Hoang Anh Tuan.
VFF considers this year's tournament an opportunity for young players to practice, aiming towards the long-term goal of building depth for the national team.
However, coach Hoang Anh Tuan still affirmed: "Although VFF does not put much emphasis on achievements in the upcoming tournament, we do not allow ourselves to play arbitrarily.
We entered the tournament with serious preparation, a desire to contribute and a clear goal for each match, especially we will try our best to demonstrate beautiful play and a beautiful image of Vietnamese football on the international arena."
On August 14, 26 players went to Thailand with the U23 Vietnam team. But before the first match, coach Hoang Anh Tuan will shorten the team's list to 23 names.
