VTV Binh Dien Long An 's opponent in the championship match is the representative from Kazakhstan, Zhetysu Club. In fact, from the beginning of the tournament, these two teams were not rated too highly.
Zhetysu were drawn in a fairly easy group with opponents from the Philippines and Jordan. The real test came in the semi-finals when they faced Thai side Nakhon Ratchasima QminC. But Zhetysu dominated the match, winning 3-0 to book their place in the final. They are the only unbeaten team so far.
Meanwhile, VTV Binh Dien Long An started the AVC Champions League with an unbelievable 2-3 loss to BAIC Motor VC (China). But the further they went, the better coach Thai Quang Lai's team played.
In the semi-finals, VTV Binh Dien Long An met BAIC Motor VC again and this time they made no mistakes to win 3-0 on the evening of April 26.
This is the third consecutive year that Vietnam has had a representative enter the final of an Asian club tournament. In 2023, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, called Sport Center I, won the championship, while LPBank Ninh Binh was runner-up in 2024.
It is difficult to predict the result of this year's final, but VTV Binh Dien Long An has the right to hope when many key players are in good form.
Tran Thi Thanh Thuy showed an important comeback with 17 points scored in the semi-final against BAIC Motor VC. Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, the main striker on loan from Vietinbank , also showed very good integration.
By reaching the final, VTV Binh Dien Long An and Zhetysu have both secured tickets to the Women’s Club Volleyball World Cup at the end of the year. The match between them will take place at 6pm on April 27.
