The final match at the LION Championship 23 event (held at Tay Ho Stadium, Hanoi ) was between Le Van Tuan and the reigning 56kg champion Pham Van Nam. It should also be mentioned that this match was jokingly called the battle between two technology drivers as both Pham Van Nam and Le Van Tuan had a time making a living as technology motorbike taxi drivers before switching to professional martial arts.
In terms of strength, Phan Van Nam is being rated higher as he has participated in many domestic tournaments with impressive achievements such as Gold Medal at the 2023 Club Championship, Silver Medal at the 2022 National Sports Festival... On the international stage, Pham Van Nam made a strong impression when he won 2 victories at the ONE Championship (2024) and Master of Fights Championship (2023).

Meanwhile, Le Van Tuan is ranked in the top 3 in the 56kg weight class after his second consecutive submission victory at the recent LION Championship 21. This victory earned Le Van Tuan the right to challenge Pham Van Nam. With his improved performance at the LION Championship, Le Van Tuan is considered a formidable unknown.
It should also be mentioned that to get to this match, Le Van Tuan had to overcome many difficulties. The 1994-born boxer almost could not compete when at the weigh-in before the event, Le Van Tuan did not reach the standard weight in the first weigh-in (56.6kg - 0.6kg more than the regulation). However, with determination to compete, Tuan continued to successfully cut his weight to reach 55.95kg in the second weigh-in, thereby winning the right to compete in the championship match for the 56kg class.
Entering the top match, after about 20 seconds of probing, the two fighters rushed in to attack and try to knock their opponents to the floor. However, both were unsuccessful. Champion Pham Van Nam tried to pressure and push Le Van Tuan into the corner of the ring right from the first seconds. Both quickly entered a clinch and fought relentlessly.
However, the turning point came when Le Van Tuan threw a precise straight punch from behind, causing Pham Van Nam to fall to the floor in a dazed state. Not missing the opportunity, Van Tuan immediately rushed in and launched a series of "rice pounding blows" and extremely strong elbows at his opponent.
The referee was forced to intervene, stop the match and declare victory by TKO (Technical Knockout) for Le Van Tuan. With this impressive victory, Le Van Tuan officially became the new champion of the 56kg weight class of LION Championship, ending the competition night with a spectacular overthrow.
Thus, just 3 years after losing to the monument Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat (in 2022), Le Van Tuan has officially become a champion. This is a worthy result for the tireless efforts of the boxer born in 1994 in the past time.

The only women’s match at LION Championship 23 also saw a TKO victory. In the previous MMA Pro contest, Russian Karina Veis faced off against Dao Thi Nhu Quynh, a Jiu-Jitsu fighter with an impressive record from The Champ MMA.
At the start of the match, both fighters were cautious and kept their distance. Nhu Quynh was the one who made an impression first with a precise backhand, causing Karina to lose her rhythm. Although there were not many outstanding moves, Nhu Quynh still had the advantage when she successfully performed a takedown and caused an eye injury to Karina. She continued to show her initiative in the first round with another takedown, temporarily taking the lead.
In the second round, Nhu Quynh continued to maintain the pressure and had another shot to take her opponent to the floor. However, Karina took advantage of Nhu Quynh's moment of losing momentum to turn the situation around. A failed takedown by Nhu Quynh accidentally created an opportunity for the Russian fighter to take the Mount position. From there, Karina launched a series of ground and pound attacks, forcing the referee to stop the match and declare her a TKO victory.
