Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota scored twice to help Liverpool defeat host Leeds 6-1 in round 32 of the Premier League.

Liverpool’s five-game winless streak was ended in dramatic fashion, as they scored six goals against Leeds. Most of the home fans left around the 70th minute, as Leeds played football that resembled a relegated side. Those who stayed may have regretted it, as two late goals saw Leeds lose like a tennis set.

Leeds have conceded 11 goals in their last two home games, and lost 5-1 to Crystal Palace earlier this month.

Liverpool only needed seven shots on target to score six goals, with their attackers often finding themselves in open positions. The 35th-minute opener was a case in point. Hopes of a comeback only lasted four minutes for the home side. Their disorganised, undisciplined football was punished again in the 51st minute. Leeds' defence was left vulnerable, allowing Curtis Jones to run through the middle and then through for Diogo Jota to score his first goal in a year.

Leeds were in disarray from there. They escaped defeat when Salah tapped into an empty net in the 60th minute when he was caught offside, but they could not hold on for long. Four minutes later, the Egyptian striker was again left unmarked and curled the ball past goalkeeper Meslier.

Liverpool's final two goals also came from comfortable finishes by Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez. Coach Jurgen Klopp commented that this was the club's best performance of the season. In fact, Liverpool did not need to go all out and was not under any pressure because the opponent was so bad.

Leeds have conceded 60 goals in the Premier League, the most in the division. They have also won just three games since the start of November. But there are still four teams below Leeds in the Premier League.
