Development of intra-provincial transport
The whole Binh Phuoc province currently has about 9,000km of roads. Of which, there are 3 national highways (13, 14 and 14C) with a total length of 239km; 15 provincial roads with a total length of 544km; 1,021km of district roads and 419km of urban roads, the rest are border patrol roads and inter-commune roads. Determining that the traffic system in the province still has many limitations, lacks synchronization, and weak regional connectivity, which is a bottleneck for the province in attracting investment, in recent years, taking advantage of the attention from the Central Government, the province has prioritized the implementation of important projects to create a breakthrough in traffic. These include the Dong Phu - Binh Duong route; upgrading and expanding National Highway 13, Loc Tan - Hoa Lu section; implementing the western route of National Highway 13, connecting from Bau Bang Industrial Park to Chon Thanh town to Hoa Lu International Border Gate.
In addition, the province also invested in upgrading a number of intra-provincial connecting routes such as DT752 and DT756. In 2024, Binh Phuoc continued to accelerate the implementation of the DT741 upgrading and expansion project, Bau Tru - Dong Xoai and Dong Xoai - Phuoc Long sections. At the end of 2024, the DT753 upgrading and expansion project began construction, meeting the long-standing expectations of people along the route and neighboring areas.
In districts, towns and cities in the province, the transportation system has been invested in. Notably, the radial routes connecting industrial parks and residential areas in Dong Phu district and Chon Thanh town have been continuously improved. Dong Xoai city has continuously deployed connecting traffic routes in the spirit of "City and village affairs, even golden land is donated", creating a strong influence on all classes of people in the area.
Focus on building highways
During his working trip to Binh Phuoc in December 2024, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha commented: “Binh Phuoc is a new youth, a new development space, a beautiful fairy but still sleeping, needing to be awakened”. Thereby, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested a number of key tasks for Binh Phuoc to create breakthroughs in the coming time, focusing on developing transportation.
Up to now, the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway construction project, the section passing through Binh Phuoc has broken ground; the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board is the investor with a length of about 6.6km, total investment capital of 1,474 billion VND. This is one of the 8 national key projects on transportation, assessed by the Prime Minister as a strategic traffic route, planned to connect the Central Highlands, Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City with a series of expressways, seaports and Long Thanh International Airport, Dong Nai province.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and delegates performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway, section passing through Binh Phuoc province.
The investment project to build the North-South Expressway in the West, Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc) section, was decided by the National Assembly in Resolution No. 138/2024/QH15 dated June 28, 2024. The route is 128.8km long (27.8km in Dak Nong province, 101km in Binh Phuoc province), phase 1 investment with a scale of 4 complete expressway lanes, roadbed width of 24.75m (the section through Dong Xoai city is 25.5m wide). The total investment capital of the project is about 25,540 billion VND. In Binh Phuoc, the expressway passes through Bu Dang district for about 48.4km, Dong Phu district for about 21.2km, Dong Xoai city for about 18.6km and Chon Thanh town for about 12.8km. The project is divided into 4 public investment projects and 1 public-private partnership (TPP) investment project. Binh Phuoc province is assigned as the competent authority and managing agency of 3 component projects.
Recently, the Binh Phuoc Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board announced the Environmental Impact Assessment Report for component project 3: Investment in the construction of a service road and an overpass across Binh Phuoc province on the North-South Expressway, West section, Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc) with a total length of about 95km. Construction is expected to start in the second quarter of 2025 and be completed in 2026.
The investment in the North-South Expressway in the West, Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc) section, according to the plan, will form a vertical axis connecting the Central Highlands with the Southeast, connecting Binh Phuoc, Dak Nong provinces and other localities in the region with Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Director of the Department of Transport of Binh Phuoc province, said: Determining the importance of the expressway project through the area, the provincial leaders pay special attention to arranging resettlement areas for affected people, thereby organizing a review of the existing resettlement land fund, and at the same time selecting a convenient location for the people. Currently, districts, towns and cities in the province have arranged 6 resettlement areas with an area of 27.5 hectares for affected people. Specifically, in Bu Dang district, the resettlement area is arranged in Ly Thuong Kiet residential area; in Dong Phu district, 3 resettlement areas are arranged in the planning area of Dong Tam commune center, Tan Hung commune administrative center and Tan Phuoc commune administrative center; in Dong Xoai city, they are arranged in Tien Hung residential area, Tien Hung commune and Tan Thanh commune. For the remaining resettlement lots, Dong Xoai city will arrange them on available resettlement land funds (forest park areas), this location has completed infrastructure.
Binh Phuoc has set a goal of becoming a modern, efficient and sustainable industrial province by 2030, an “attractive destination” in the Southeast region, with a fairly large economic scale; constantly improving the quality of life of the people, narrowing the gap between regions in the province. When the intra-provincial and inter-regional traffic infrastructure and expressways passing through the province are completed and connected, the goals set by Binh Phuoc will certainly become a reality.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway project passing through the province has been approved by the Provincial People's Committee according to the set schedule, serving as a basis for the investor and related units to implement the next steps, striving to complete in 2026. For the Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc) expressway project, the Department and related units advised the Provincial People's Committee to closely coordinate with central agencies in implementing preparation work, striving to start the projects in the third quarter of 2025 and complete in 2027.
