Tornado causes damage in Quang Tin commune, warning of natural disaster risks in Lam Dong

On the afternoon of August 20, in Quang Tin commune, Lam Dong province, there was a heavy rain accompanied by a tornado and lightning. As a result, the tornado tore off the roofs of at least 3 houses and broke many crops, mainly durian.

Since the beginning of August 2025, the weather in some localities of Lam Dong province has been complicated. Prolonged heavy rain has caused localized flooding, landslides, damage to property and many crops of the people.

The Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has requested localities to review, closely monitor and proactively support and overcome damage caused by natural disasters.

According to the forecast of the Department of Hydrometeorology, National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, from 13:00 to 15:00 on August 20, Lam Dong province had moderate rain, some places had heavy rain such as: Loc Tan - Bao Lam 60.8mm, Dak Som - Dak Glong 50.2mm...

Soil moisture models show that some areas in Lam Dong province are nearly saturated (over 85%) or have reached saturation.

In the next 3 - 6 hours, some areas in Lam Dong will continue to have rain with accumulated rainfall ranging from 20 - 40mm, some places over 70mm. In the next 6 hours, there is a risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes in many communes and wards in the province.
