Van Phuoc Communal House was invested in and inaugurated in 2021, both a place of worship for local people and a "meeting point" for artists from provinces and cities on the occasion of the death anniversary of musician Nguyen Quang Dai.

Socialization of investment and restoration of relics

In the scorching summer sun, the trees on the road to the Long Khot National Historical Site are still green and blooming. The construction of the Long Khot National Historical Site Phase 2 is in its final stages. In addition to the projects implemented in Phase 1, the relic continues to invest in landscape construction with many items: Trees, Shakyamuni Buddha statues, battle dioramas, etc. with a total cost of more than 54 billion VND. In addition, the relic is also equipped with a surveillance camera system, a wall-mounted speaker system and free wifi connection for visitors. The old resistance zone, which marked heroic feats and is also a symbol of the spirit of "sacrificing oneself for the country", is now invested in on a large scale, solemnly and majestically, helping future generations to understand, be proud of and remember the contributions of their predecessors.

Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Vinh Hung District, Long An Province - Tran Binh Nhien said: “The National Historical Site of Long Khot Fort Area is currently one of the prominent "red addresses", an attractive destination in the district. In addition to the groups of visitors learning about history andeducating traditions for students and young people, the relatives and families of martyrs who sacrificed their lives on the border and people from all over the place also come to the relic site more and more. In 2023, the district welcomed about 22,000 visitors, mainly focusing on the Full Moon Festival of January at the Co Son Pagoda relic, the celebration of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday and paying tribute to the heroic martyrs at the National Historical Site of Long Khot Fort Area”.

Phase 2, the National Historical Site of Long Khot Fort Area has been invested in an expansion with many items: Shakyamuni Buddha statue, trees, drainage system,...

To achieve that result, the Party Committee, authorities at all levels, especially the Department of Culture of Vinh Hung district always pay attention to the management and conservation of historical and cultural relics in the district, especially socialization to restore and embellish relic sites. Only for the National Historical Relics of Long Khot Fort Area, the total investment cost for the two phases is up to more than 100 billion VND, of which about 50% is from socialized sources. In addition, the district also mobilized funds to restore the cultural relic site of Co Son pagoda and completed the construction of the traditional house of Battalion 504 in the Go Ong Let Historical Relics area.

The restoration and embellishment of historical and cultural relic sites has been of interest to many localities in the province. In Can Duoc district, the work of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage and historical relic sites in the district has always been well implemented; at the same time, many resources in society have been mobilized to participate.

Can Duoc district is one of the localities that has done a good job of preserving intact and complete ranked relics, preventing degradation and loss. The work of repairing, restoring and embellishing historical and cultural relics in the district is deployed and carried out regularly and continuously in accordance with regulations. Among them, it is possible to mention the restoration and embellishment of Van Phuoc communal house in 2021 with a total cost of about 5 billion VND, which "delighted" local people.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Vui (Van Phuoc Communal House Association Board) shared: “With the attention, support, and funding mobilization from all levels of government to renovate and build the communal house, the Communal House Association Board and the people in the area are all very happy. Every year, on the occasion of the Ky Yen festival, the communal house has a traditional music exchange, with many provinces and cities gathering here. With a spacious communal house roof to organize the program and welcome friends from all over, we are both happy and proud of our homeland.”

According to information from the Department of Culture and Information of Can Duoc district, the district continues to propose to request a portion of the funding for the restoration and repair of other historical and cultural relics in the area: Rach Kien crossroads, Nha Tram Cot, Phuoc Lam Pagoda,...

According to the assessment of the Provincial People's Council's Committee for Culture and Society , most of the relics in the province are managed, exploited, used, and promoted in traditional education and tourism. Some localities have proactively done a good job of socialization, effectively mobilizing social resources in restoration and construction (mainly small renovations and repairs such as building exhibition houses; steles, memorials; making fences, welcome gates; improving environmental landscapes;...).

Currently, the province has 125 historical and cultural relics, including 21 national relics and 104 provincial relics; 3 cultural works. Most of the relics are managed, exploited, used, and promoted for traditional education and tourism. Some localities have proactively done a good job of socialization, effectively mobilizing social resources in the restoration and embellishment of historical and cultural relics.

Towards tourism development

Localities in the province are still promoting the value of historical-cultural relics. Some typical relics have become "red addresses" attracting people inside and outside the province. In particular, some relics have initially been linked with tourism activities, promoting traditional values through festivals at relics such as the Full Moon Festival in January at Co Son Pagoda; the Anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's Birthday and gratitude to heroic martyrs at the National Historical Relic of Don Long Khot (Vinh Hung District); the Ky Yen Festival at Van Phuoc Communal House and the Southern Amateur Music Exchange at Van Phuoc Communal House (Can Duoc District); the Anniversary of the Sacrifice of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc at the Vam Nhut Tao Historical Relic Area (Tan Tru District);...

The Southern Amateur Music Exchange on the occasion of the death anniversary of musician Nguyen Quang Dai and the Ky Yen Festival at Van Phuoc Communal House (Can Duoc District) attracted a large number of people and amateurs inside and outside the province (In the photo: Representatives of the provinces participating in the Southern Amateur Music Exchange 2024 at Van Phuoc Communal House received the flag from the Organizing Committee)

In Can Duoc district, tourism development associated with historical and cultural relics has been focused on for many years. The tours and tourist routes being exploited are all associated with some prominent historical and cultural relics: Tram Cot House, Rach Cat Fort, Van Phuoc Communal House, etc. In addition to the tour guide team at the district's Cultural, Information and Broadcasting Center, some relics in the district also have tour guides that are highly appreciated by tourists: Tram Cot House, Phuoc Lam Pagoda, etc. That creates highlights and unique features to attract tourists. In the first quarter of 2024 alone, Can Duoc district welcomed about 1,500 visitors to visit historical and cultural relics in the area.

Since November 2023, when the Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - Nguyen Van Duoc requested localities to pay attention to "raising the level" of historical-cultural relics in tourism development; at the same time, promoting education on traditions and love for the homeland for students through visiting and learning about history at historical-cultural relics in the province, localities have paid more attention to tourism development and improving the quality of tourism services in historical-cultural relics.

In Vinh Hung district, in addition to focusing on the restoration and embellishment of historical and cultural relic sites, the locality also focuses on investing in the transportation system, ensuring that the roads to the relics are always clear and convenient. Propaganda, training, improving the quality of services, cuisine, food hygiene and safety, etc. are also focused on and carried out regularly.

The restoration and promotion of the value of historical and cultural relics are receiving special attention. In addition, there are activities to promote the image and attract tourists to visit, contributing to traditional education and creating a premise for promoting the value of historical and cultural relics associated with tourism development./.
