In recent years, the economic structure has shifted in the right direction, increasing the proportion of industry and services. The district's economy has grown strongly, averaging 29.16% per year in the 2015-2020 period, higher than the whole province. Many large projects on the automobile industry and high-end resort tourism have operated effectively, creating a spillover effect for economic development.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc assessed that Gia Vien has an important strategic geographical position in politics, economy and trade. From a purely agricultural district, suffering from many natural disasters, storms and floods, and being among the poor districts, Gia Vien has risen to become one of the top developing districts in the province. Many large projects on industry and tourism have been put into operation since the previous decades, creating a spillover effect for economic development. Many strategic connecting infrastructures have been formed, infrastructure of industrial zones and clusters continues to receive investment attention, promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation... The appearance of urban and rural areas of Gia Vien has many improvements. Many creative and suitable mechanisms and models are aiming for green and sustainable development. Cultural and social fields have achieved many positive results; people's lives are constantly improved in terms of material and spiritual aspects.
The Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee emphasized that in the coming time, Gia Vien needs to focus on a number of key tasks, including continuing to better promote its potential and advantages, focusing on strongly developing industry, especially the automobile and electronics industries; tourism and high-tech agriculture to create new growth drivers. The district needs to improve the investment environment to attract quality investment, strongly promote the private economy, support cooperative economy for mutual development; invest and promote human potential, increase investment in science and technology, digital transformation, promote innovation, encourage entrepreneurship, especially among young people...
