Currently, the Russian army is expanding its attacks in almost all directions. One of them is the town of Avdeevka. This town is considered a stronghold of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donbass.
On the morning of October 10, Russian artillery and air force launched large-scale strikes on several positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Avdeevka and in the region. Ukrainian positions in Avdeevka, Ocheretino, Umanskoe, Netailovo and settlements were destroyed. Russian forces attacked Ukrainian shelters and positions with bombs and missiles.
The local Avdeevka coke plant, used by the Ukrainian military as a military base, has been on fire. The facility comes under almost daily attack by the Russian Aerospace Forces.
Northwest of Avdeevka, Russian troops crossed the railway and advanced to the outskirts of the town of Berdychi. Control of the settlement would allow Russian troops to cut off the main supply line of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Avdeevka.
Russian troops are carrying out fierce attacks on Avdeevka
On the Kiev side, Ukrainian military sources said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces suffered heavy losses in the Ocheretino area, where the station was destroyed by Russian airstrikes.
To the south, Russian troops are pushing Ukrainian forces out of their positions near Opytnoe. Several groups of Ukrainian soldiers tried to enter the village a few weeks ago but were repelled. Russian troops have also moved into nearby fields. Fighting continues in the Vodyanoe area.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces stronghold of Avdeevka is considered one of the strongest fortifications in Donbass. Air strikes to destroy it are necessary before any ground offensive in the region. The Russian army was also forced to surround the town on the outskirts of Donetsk to avoid heavy losses in a direct assault.
The destruction of the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Avdeevka is necessary to ensure the safety of civilians in the central area of Donetsk because of the continuous shelling of the area by Ukrainian forces.
