Luc Yen evaluates the model of 3-line hybrid rice variety HKT 99

In order to improve production efficiency and promote the application of technical advances in practice, the Center for Agricultural Development Support of Luc Yen district has just coordinated with Bac Giang Agricultural Technical Materials Joint Stock Company to organize a workshop to evaluate the results of implementing the model of growing 3-line hybrid rice HKT 99 in Lieu Do commune.

This is a new rice variety bred in China, protected by Bac Giang Agricultural Technical Materials Joint Stock Company, proposed for recognition and distribution in Vietnam. In Luc Yen district, the model was deployed on an area of ​​0.3 hectares, with the participation of 2 households in Cay Mo village, Lieu Do commune.

Through initial monitoring and evaluation, the HKT 99 rice variety shows many outstanding characteristics such as: High germination rate, strong seedlings, good tillering ability, thick and hard leaves, long panicles, neat flowering, good panicle escape. In particular, the variety has the ability to resist pests and diseases such as blast, leaf blight, and good resistance to brown planthoppers. HKT 99 is a rice variety that can be grown in both spring and summer crops, with a short growing period of about 130-135 days in the spring crop and 110-115 days in the summer crop.

In the experimental model, the variety yielded about 82.4 tons/ha, 15% higher than the control variety. The rice grains are long and clear; the rice is soft, sticky and delicious.

At the evaluation session, delegates and farmers directly visited the fields, listened to the results report and shared experiences in the cultivation process. Many farmers highly appreciated the potential and quality of this new rice variety.

The successful application of the 3-line hybrid rice variety HKT 99 promises to contribute to increasing productivity, increasing income, and improving people's lives. At the same time, this is also a practical step in the process of restructuring the agricultural sector, towards high-tech, efficient and sustainable agriculture.
