After many months of recording dealers massively discounting Ford Explorer with hundreds of millions in discounts, now the high-end 7-seat SUV model no longer appears on Ford Vietnam's official website.
Sources from the dealer said that the last Ford Explorers in the current batch have been delivered to consumers and the American car company will not import any more batches.

Many speculate that the plan to temporarily stop importing and distributing Ford Explorer cars is probably to clear the way for the new version expected to be launched next year. Meanwhile, Ford Vietnam said that Explorer was removed from the product catalog on the website because it was out of stock.
If the plan to bring the new version to Vietnam is implemented, Ford Explorer will quickly regain its appeal after a long period of low sales and being regularly on the list of 10 slowest selling cars on the market.

The Ford Explorer currently sold in Vietnam is the 6th generation, launched in 2022. When it was first launched, the Ford Explorer became a fever, buyers who wanted the dealer to deliver the car early had to pay an additional 200 million VND.
After the Hyundai Palisade (VND1,469 - 1,589 billion) and Volkswagen Teramont X (VND1,998 - 2,168 billion) entered the market, Explorer gradually lost its appeal due to its higher price than its competitors (VND2,099 billion). Even dealers constantly announcing discount programs could not bring their products back to their heyday.

Ford Explorer's total sales in 2024 reached 689 vehicles, only half of Hyundai Palisade's sales (1,587 vehicles). In the first 5 months of 2025 alone, Explorer's cumulative sales reached only 130 vehicles.
In the near future, if the import tax on US cars to Vietnam is 0%, the Explorer will have a basis to create a softer price than the current one. However, this is difficult to predict because if the new version is distributed with valuable improvements, the Ford Explorer having a lower price is not feasible.
