Aside from sleeping against the window, Tommy said passengers should never touch the airplane toilet flush button or sink lever with their bare hands because it's "really unhygienic" and recommends touching it with a napkin or paper towel.

The flight attendant also stressed the importance of drinking water on the flight and staying hydrated, advising to drink enough water for every flight.

Another thing: Don't wear shorts on a plane—or at least try not to. He explains that the reason is similar to not leaning against the window. If you wear long pants, your skin will be less exposed to dirty surfaces on the plane.

Finally, he said passengers should not be afraid to let flight attendants know if they are feeling unwell mid-flight. "We are there to help, so if you need food, water or airsickness bags, let us know right away," he said.
