On the evening of July 26, at Hang Duong Cemetery (Con Dao Special Zone, Ho Chi Minh City), the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City solemnly held an incense offering and candle lighting ceremony to commemorate the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025).
Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Truong My Hoa, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Vice President; Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Party Central Committee member, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Nguyen Van Duoc, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Dang Minh Thong, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Nguyen Van Tho, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. Joining the delegations were former leaders of the Party and State; former leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and leaders of many departments and branches of Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dang Minh Thong emotionally shared: In the sacred atmosphere of July, at Hang Duong Cemetery, the land soaked in the blood and bones of many generations of revolutionary soldiers and patriotic compatriots, the Party Committee, Government and people of Ho Chi Minh City respectfully commemorate and pay deep gratitude to the heroes and martyrs who fell for the independence, freedom, peace and unity of the Fatherland.

Comrade Dang Minh Thong emphasized that, with the tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source", the City always considers the work of gratitude as a regular, sacred and honorable political task. Ho Chi Minh City ensures that 100% of living Vietnamese Heroic Mothers are taken care of; 100% of communes, wards and special zones do a good job of caring for war invalids, martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution. Along with that, a series of practical care programs are maintained and spread such as: building gratitude houses, gratitude savings books; taking care of relatives of martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers and people with meritorious services to the revolution.

“Today, in the sacred land of Con Dao - once known as "hell on earth", bearing the mark of the heroic revolutionary struggle of the nation - where Hang Duong Cemetery lulls the eternal sleep of thousands of revolutionary soldiers and patriotic compatriots through many generations of imprisonment, we reopen each page of history about the late General Secretary Le Hong Phong, patriot Nguyen An Ninh, heroic martyr Vo Thi Sau... The predecessors, who have fallen, remain in the land of Con Dao, but their resilient and indomitable fighting spirit has fueled the revolutionary movement of our entire Party, people and army to the final victory", Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dang Minh Thong shared.


On behalf of the Party Committee, Government and people of Ho Chi Minh City, the delegation of Ho Chi Minh City respectfully bows before the souls of heroic martyrs and sends sincere gratitude to the heroic Vietnamese mothers, families of martyrs, people with meritorious services to the revolution, those who have silently devoted and sacrificed for today's independence.



Comrade Dang Minh Thong also expressed the City's determination to continue joining hands with the whole country to develop Con Dao in a green, clean, sustainable direction, preserving historical and spiritual values, building this place into an ecological, cultural and historical tourism center, worthy of the great sacrifice of our ancestors.




Before that, the delegation offered flowers and incense at Hang Keo Cemetery and attended the flag-raising ceremony at the headquarters of the Con Dao Special Zone People's Committee.
