Mai Ngoc - Anh Hoang bring glory to Hanoi T&T table tennis training center

On the afternoon of May 14, two athletes Tran Mai Ngoc and Dinh Anh Hoang created a shock when they defeated the Singaporean pair with a score of 3-1 in the final match, ending the thirst for gold for mixed doubles table tennis of Vietnam after 26 years.

The last time a Vietnamese mixed pair won this event was at the 1997 SEA Games. At that time, veteran player Vu Manh Cuong - the teacher of both Mai Ngoc and Anh Hoang at the Hanoi T&T table tennis club - and his teammate Ngo Thu Thuy won the championship.

Mai Ngoc and Anh Hoang won the gold medal in mixed doubles table tennis at the 32nd SEA Games.

Born in 2004 in Binh Duong , Mai Ngoc lost her father when she was only 14 years old, her mother worked as a garment worker. At the age of 9, Mai Ngoc and her twin sister Ngoc Nga moved to Hanoi with their mother and fell in love with table tennis while practicing at the Hanoi T&T table tennis club.

Under the guidance of coach Vu Manh Cuong - a famous former tennis player who won three SEA Games gold medals, sisters Mai Ngoc and Ngoc Nga have continuously improved in both physical and technical aspects, tactics, and especially their competitive spirit.

In 2021, Mai Ngoc created a fever at the national championship when she defeated two Vietnamese table tennis icons, Mai Hoang My Trang and Phan Hoang Tuong Giang, to win the women's singles championship. At the 31st SEA Games, Mai Ngoc won 2 bronze medals in the women's doubles and women's team. At the 32nd SEA Games this year, Mai Ngoc changed the color of her medal.

Mai Ngoc and Anh Hoang are two talented athletes of Hanoi T&T Table Tennis Club.

The teammate who just created a miracle with Mai Ngoc at SEA Games 32 is Anh Hoang, 22 years old, born in Dak Lak . Anh Hoang is also from the Hanoi T&T table tennis training center, a promising player of Vietnamese table tennis with a technical playing style and a strong competitive mentality.

Coach Dinh Quang Linh of the Vietnamese table tennis team said the coaching staff chose Mai Ngoc and Anh Hoang because they played well together in the Hanoi T&T table tennis club and won the national championship several times.

The historic achievements of Mai Ngoc and Anh Hoang have once again brought glory to the Hanoi T&T table tennis training center. Established in 2007, with modern facilities and equipment, always being renewed, after nearly 20 years of operation, Hanoi T&T table tennis club under the guidance of good teachers such as Coach Vu Manh Cuong has won many medals, always in the top 3 strongest teams in Vietnam, contributing many athletes to the Vietnam team, to the Vietnam youth team to compete internationally.
