Mai Phuong makes it to the top 40 in the Miss World finals.

Mai Phuong wore an elegant outfit at the closed-door interview on March 4th.

At the final rehearsal on the evening of March 8th, the organizers announced the Vietnamese contestant as the winner. Mai Phuong said: "I am happy, I don't know what more to say than to express my gratitude and thanks to the audience back home who have always followed and supported me throughout the three weeks of the competition."

The Multimedia Challenge began before the competition in February, with contestants showcasing their personal influence across multiple social media platforms. Each contestant was provided with a personal page on the official Miss World website. They had to quickly and regularly update their personal information and activities related to the competition. Additionally, contestants had to interact with their audience on Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms.

Mai Phuong's account gained attention on Mobstar, as she was a top trending contestant for many days, surpassing her strong Indonesian opponent and taking the lead in audience votes in the final round. She previously had many images that received positive feedback, such as spreading the word about a tiger conservation campaign and dancing to Indian music.

Besides Mai Phuong, 17 other beauties have been confirmed to advance directly to the top 40 thanks to winning the subsidiary competitions, including: Martinique (winner of Top Model), Croatia (Miss Sport ), Botswana, England, Lebanon, Nigeria, Zimbabwe (Head to Head Challenge), Tunisia (Miss Talent), Indonesia, Nepal, Turkey, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Tanzania, Uganda, Brazil, Trinidad & Tobago (Miss Charity).

The top 40 were announced at the final night, after which they competed in various rounds to find the winner. This year's competition featured 112 contestants from around the world .

In the early stages, Mai Phuong attracted attention from the media and international beauty websites. However, the beauty queen caused concern among viewers when she repeatedly failed important preliminary rounds and experienced health problems. Despite this, Mai Phuong said she was not discouraged and maintained good energy.

"For me, the journey at Miss World has been amazing, I've gained new experiences and made new friends. I'm relaxed, ready for everything, and striving to shine in the final night," Mai Phuong said.

The winner, whose full name is Huynh Nguyen Mai Phuong, is 24 years old and was crowned Miss World Vietnam 2022, receiving widespread support from the audience. She is 1.7m tall, with measurements of 82-63-92 cm, an IELTS score of 8.0, and is currently studying at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Ho Chi Minh City. The beauty queen traveled to India on February 17th after more than a year of preparation, longer than previous Vietnamese contestants due to the competition's multiple postponements and location changes.

Miss World is one of the two most prestigious beauty pageants in the world, alongside Miss Universe, first held in England in 1951. The reigning Miss World, Karolina Bielawska from Poland, will crown her successor in the final at 9 PM on March 9th (Hanoi time) in India.
