According to Gadgettendency , when the MacBook Pro lid is opened at a certain angle, purple vertical lines appear on the screen. At the NotebookNerds conference, repair expert Stefan Steins said the issue is quite common, and repair technicians receive several devices with this defect each week.

Experts say the problem relates to the flexible cable connecting the display to the main body of the MacBook Pro. There's a gap in the hinge between the screen and keyboard where dirt can accumulate. Debris then gets trapped in the cable and damages it over time as the lid is opened and closed. Repairing such damage can be difficult and expensive.
Ricky Panesar from iCorreg said: "The difficulty here is that the damaged cables are connected at the back of the screen. To repair it, we would have to remove the screen from the casing without breaking and solder new flexible cables. This carries a high risk of damage."
Completely replacing the screen would be easier, which is what Apple typically does in such cases. However, this could cost customers over $625 if they don't have Apple Care's extended warranty program.
Fixing this problem is difficult and therefore costly for users.
Reportedly, this issue affects several versions of Apple's MacBook Pro, with model numbers A1989, A2251, A2289, A2338, and A2141, with the latter being the most affected. These models were released between 2018 and 2020. Additionally, experts say that MacBook Pro models released between 2016 and 2020 have similar designs, so they may also be affected by this problem.
