Ms. Hoang Thi Lan Anh - Vice Chairwoman of the District People's Committee - said: The whole district has 60 prestigious people among ethnic minorities. In recent years, the district has paid attention to guiding the implementation of policies for prestigious people in ethnic minority areas according to Decision No. 12/2018/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister .
Policies for prestigious people are implemented promptly and in accordance with regulations; they are provided with documents and disseminated information on the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, the situation and results of the implementation of socio -economic development tasks, and ensuring national defense and security of the country and locality.
Along with that, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district coordinates with the Fatherland Front of communes, towns and socio-political organizations to review, build and consolidate the contingent of prestigious people among ethnic minorities. Annually, conferences are held to meet and commend prestigious people; visit, give gifts to encourage spirit, and promptly commend and reward individuals with outstanding achievements in various fields.
Over the past years, Mr. Mlek-Old Village Elder Deng (Kon Chieng Commune) has actively mobilized villagers to contribute working days and donate land to build rural roads; build 7 houses for poor households and families with revolutionary contributions.
He shared: “To contribute to poverty reduction for villagers, I see my responsibility to actively coordinate with departments and sectors to encourage people to change the structure of crops and livestock to increase income, not to expect or rely on the support of the State.”
Mang Yang district has 4 religions recognized by the State: Catholicism, Buddhism, Protestantism, Cao Dai with more than 16,000 followers. Ms. Dinh Thi Minh Ha - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district - said: "Recently, religious organizations in the area have actively responded and participated in emulation movements launched by local authorities and departments and branches.
Religious dignitaries regularly remind and mobilize followers to participate in building self-governing residential areas to protect the environment, in conjunction with campaigns and patriotic emulation movements at the grassroots level.
Phu Yen Parish (Hra Commune) has more than 2,000 Bahnar ethnic parishioners. Over the years, parishioners here have always promoted the spirit of "Living the gospel in the heart of the nation to serve the happiness of compatriots".
Mr. Y Thanh - Phu Yen Parish Priest - said: As a Catholic priest, I feel I have the responsibility to work with the government and departments to propagate and mobilize parishioners to comply with legal regulations in religious activities, to live a "good life, beautiful religion".
Over the years, Mr. Y Thanh has been highly appreciated by the Chairman of the District People's Committee and the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district for his contributions to the community. In particular, he was honored to receive a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for his outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement among Catholics in Gia Lai province, and a certificate of merit from the Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee for his outstanding achievements in ethnic work and implementation of the ethnic policies of the Party and State.
Head of the District Internal Affairs Department Tran Thi My Lien informed: "Every year, the Department coordinates with the Provincial Religious Committee and related sectors to propagate and organize the implementation of the Law on Belief and Religion and related legal regulations for dignitaries and officials.
Coordinate with local authorities and Party committees to visit, present gifts and meet with prominent religious dignitaries, monks and nuns on the occasion of Lunar New Year and religious holidays.
At the same time, well implement state management of religion in the locality, implement policies and guidelines on religious beliefs, and ensure religious activities in accordance with regulations.
