Marriott hits 1,000 hotels in Asia

Specifically, The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne is the group's 1,000th hotel in Asia Pacific , marking Marriott International's entry into Australia. This 5-star hotel showcases contemporary aesthetics, high-class service and panoramic city views.

Marriott International aims to open 100 hotels, or at least two new hotels per week, in the Asia- Pacific market by 2023. The group plans to expand its footprint in key markets in the region this year, including Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, China and India.

“The opening of Marriott International’s 1,000th hotel in Asia Pacific is a significant milestone, reaffirming our confidence in the outlook for the travel industry in 2023 and beyond. It also demonstrates our confidence in our ability to deliver superior service and hospitality to our guests, partners and owners. We are particularly excited to expand our footprint in new and emerging markets,” said Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific (excluding Greater China), Marriott International.

“China currently represents nearly half of the region’s hotels and remains a strategic and vibrant market with huge growth potential,” said Yibing Mao, President of Greater China at Marriott International. “Along with other markets in the region, this is a remarkable, pre-existing opportunity for us to continue to develop the next milestones.”
