What does the new ID card model that the Ministry of Public Security is consulting look like?

The Ministry of Public Security has completed the draft Circular regulating the form of identity cards and identity certificates after the 15th National Assembly passed the Identity Law No. 26/2023/QH15, which took effect from July 1.

The draft is being made public and comments are being collected on the Ministry of Public Security's website for dissemination and legaleducation .

To implement the provisions of the Law on Identification, the Department of Administrative Police for Social Order has coordinated with relevant units to review and study current legal regulations on identification; develop a draft Plan, draft Submission, draft Circular regulating the form of Identification card, form of Identification Certificate; submit to the Ministry's leaders for approval of the form of Identification card, form of Identification Certificate.

The ID card sample and the ID certificate sample stipulate the ID card specifications according to Article 3, stating that the two sides of the ID card are printed with a blue pattern that changes from yellow to blue in the middle.

The front of the card includes: Vietnam's administrative map, bronze drum, traditional decorative motifs. The back of the card includes: Patterns combined with lotus images and interwoven diagonal curves. The national emblem and citizen's photo are printed in color directly on the ID card.

In terms of material, the ID card is made of plastic.

Article 6 stipulates the important part "Information encryption in the storage part of the ID card" stating that the information storage part is the QR code and electronic chip attached to the back of the ID card .
