On forums and social networking groups, many young mothers cannot hide their confusion and heartache after taking care of their children with all their heart, putting their trust in milk products advertised by celebrities, but in the end, they had to face a bitter ending.

Ms. NDL (33 years old, Thai Nguyen ) is still confused when she knows that the milk she buys for her child to drink every day is fake milk.

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, she expressed her disappointment and concern: “Currently, I am very confused about the quality of milk. I think that famous and influential people must advertise truthfully and the product quality is good, so they buy it for their children.”

She said that milk boxes like this bought online or in stores are not cheap, all cost more than 500,000 VND/can.

However, with the mentality of loving her child, wanting her child to use the best products and trusting in advertising from famous people, between 2022 and 2023, she did not hesitate to buy Hiup milk in large quantities for her child.

“I had to buy ten or twenty boxes for my child,” she shared.

When she discovered fake milk, she collapsed and couldn't sleep all night: "In the past, I had a difficult birth. During the 9 months of pregnancy, I had to lie in one place every day, receiving two bottles of IV fluids, and then getting so many injections.

That’s why now I take care of my children, and whenever I see something good, I try to tighten my belt and buy it for them. Now I just hope that the authorities will check whether there are any substances in the milk that can affect the children, and whether drinking it for a long time will have any future effects.”

Heartbroken and angry

Ms. Linh's story is also the common concern of many young mothers: Because they love their children and do not know which product is best, they accidentally buy fake milk.

“I tried to buy it for my child so that he wouldn’t be shorter than his friends. I forced him to drink it because many people said that if he didn’t buy milk, he would buy medicine to make him taller. He drank it and now he doesn’t seem to grow, he just feels like he’s wasting money and harming his health, and he’s not taller,” TN shared.

“So heartbreaking and infuriating! My child has used 2 boxes, 12 boxes/box. Who is responsible for my child now? There are advertisements everywhere, reputable people advertise and make commitments. Now how much has been sold, how much has entered the body, and then they say it's fake,” account LT could not hide his indignation.

“I also let my child use it. I hope the Government will completely destroy this network to reclaim consumer rights,” a mother expressed.

How to recognize and prevent fake milk problems

The worry of holding an expensive box of milk but not seeing any effectiveness is making consumers gradually lose confidence. Here is how to identify and avoid fake milk:

Buy milk from a trusted source

Consumers should prioritize buying at large supermarket and pharmacy chains; official stores on e-commerce platforms with business verification.

Absolutely do not buy from Facebook groups, Tiktok, spontaneous livestreams or sellers without a clear address. Advertisements for "domestic goods", "hand-carried goods"... all have high potential risks and dangers.

Observe the smell, color and solubility of the milk.

After opening the box, real milk always has a characteristic light aroma, fine powder, uniform color, dissolves quickly in warm water and has no strange residue. On the contrary, fake milk can have a strange smell, dissolve slowly, clump, and even change color when mixed.

Check the packaging carefully

Genuine milk has sturdy packaging, sharp, non-blurred print, and clearly presented logos and brand information. Consumers need to pay attention to small details such as spelling mistakes, uneven fonts, or poor quality images.

These are common signs of fake milk. Also, compare the packaging with the official product image on the company's website.

Reaction after using milk

After use, consumers should monitor their body’s reactions, especially children and the elderly. Users of fake milk will have symptoms such as stomachache, diarrhea, nausea, etc.

If you notice any unusual symptoms, stop using the product immediately and then contact the seller or the authorities to file a complaint. In serious cases, take the patient to the nearest medical facility for timely treatment.
