Messi makes history with Inter Miami

On the morning of May 29, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez both scored twice to help Inter Miami win 4-2 against Montreal in round 22 of MLS 2025.

Messi became the first Inter Miami player to have a hand in 50 goals in a regular season in MLS.

With this brace, Leo has scored a total of 863 goals in 1,102 professional matches. In the 2025 season, Messi scored 13 goals in 19 matches in all competitions. He also reached the milestone of 50 goals in the regular season in MLS, including 29 goals and 21 assists in 37 appearances. This is an Inter Miami record.

In the 27th minute, Sergio Busquets successfully stole the ball in the middle of the field and passed it to Messi in front of the penalty area. However, Inter Miami's defense still allowed Montreal to score 2 goals in the second half thanks to Dante Sealy and Victor Loturi. Despite having 3 points, Inter Miami still ranked 6th in the MLS East, 7 points behind the leader Philadelphia Union.

Inter Miami will continue their MLS journey against Columbus on June 1, before entering the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
