The Journey of Rapid Growth
In pre-market trading today, July 31 (US time), Microsoft (MSFT) shares increased by 8%, bringing the company's valuation to about 4.14 trillion USD.
The increase comes after Microsoft announced a record $30 billion capital spending for its upcoming first fiscal quarter, along with booming sales from its Azure cloud service, which is becoming a top growth driver.
Microsoft first crossed the $1 trillion mark in April 2019. Just six years later, the company is poised to hit $4 trillion, a feat previously only achieved by Nvidia, the AI king, on July 9. Meanwhile, Apple is currently valued at around $3.12 trillion.
What sets Microsoft apart is its sustainable growth and long-term investment strategy in artificial intelligence. Since ChatGPT launched in late 2022, Microsoft's stock has doubled, thanks in large part to a strategic partnership with OpenAI, the company behind some of the world's most advanced AI models.
Standing firm against tariffs, leading the AI race
Despite global markets being rocked by US President Donald Trump's tariff attack, Microsoft has maintained a strong recovery, with shares up nearly 50% since their April 2025 low.
In a context where many businesses are worried about tightening spending, Microsoft's positive financial results show that the corporation has not been affected by new tax policies.
In addition to Azure, Microsoft is also accelerating the integration of AI into its Office suite of applications, while cutting staff to reinvest in technology research.
These drastic moves have helped the company not only lead in the field of generative AI, but also strengthen its position compared to competitors such as Google Cloud or Amazon Web Services.
Wall Street has become increasingly confident in Microsoft’s long-term vision, a company that innovates while maintaining operational stability. The company has reported record revenue every quarter since September 2022.
The sustained growth, combined with favorable market factors such as expectations for US-China trade negotiations and a wave of global AI investment, has led many experts to predict that Microsoft can maintain its $4 trillion valuation, and even go beyond.
