On September 18, Microsoft announced that Mr. Dhanawat will lead emerging markets, including Vietnam, and continue to realize Microsoft's mission of promoting the digital transformation journey of state agencies and private enterprises, contributing to innovation, sustainable development and comprehensive economic growth in Vietnam.
Mr. Dhanawat has over 30 years of leadership experience in the IT industry with 8 years leading Microsoft Thailand.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Mr. Dhanawat held senior management positions at Hewlett-Packard and IBM, where he led enterprise business development and strategic growth initiatives in Thailand and the Southeast Asia region.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from California State University, San Bernardino, USA and a Bachelor of Accounting from Assumption University, Bangkok, Thailand.
In his new role, Mr. Dhanawat Suthumpun shared: “I am honored to take on the leadership role for emerging markets, including Vietnam, and to have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the digital future as well as Vietnam's ambition to become a high-income economy by 2045.”
Commenting on Microsoft's new boss, Mr. Mayank Wadhwa, president of Microsoft Southeast Asia, said: "His deep understanding of the region, customer-centric strategy and outstanding achievements in promoting digital transformation for organizations and businesses will play a key role in contributing to the realization of Vietnam's national digital transformation strategy."
