The ceremony is not only a historical milestone marking the development of the sports movement for people with disabilities, but also affirms the belief, will and extraordinary determination of millions of people who are overcoming their fate every day to affirm their own values and bring glory to the Fatherland.
The ceremony was also an occasion to honor outstanding contributions in the past time. Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong presented Certificates of Merit of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to 2 groups and 8 outstanding individuals, contributing to spreading good values, encouraging today's and future generations to continue the glorious journey.
The ceremony also witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements between the Vietnam Paralympic Committee and accompanying businesses and social organizations for the 2025-2030 period.
Three decades of overcoming difficulties, writing a new history for sports for people with disabilities
In his opening speech, former Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Chairman of the Vietnam Paralympic Committee Huynh Vinh Ai emphasized: The past 30 years have been a proud journey for the Vietnam Paralympic Committee.
From the early days of many difficulties, the sports movement for people with disabilities has gradually affirmed its position, nurtured aspirations and lit the fire of belief for people with physical disabilities but strong will.
Through each congress, from the Paralympics, Asian Paralympics to ASEAN Para Games, the image of the red flag with yellow star flying proudly has become a testament to the strength of Vietnam's spirit, affirming that there are no limits to dreams and aspirations to reach the top.
Each medal and each record achieved not only marks personal efforts but also the crystallization of the companionship of family, coaches, staff and the whole social community. It is also a story of humanity, of sharing, of the care that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always give to special destinies, turning faith into motivation, turning difficulties into strength to win.
Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh, in his speech, also emphasized that the 30th anniversary of the Vietnam Paralympic Committee is even more meaningful when taking place in the context of the whole country still filled with the sacred emotions of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, September 2.
It is the resonance of the aspiration for national independence with the aspiration to rise of people with extraordinary determination, sharing the same spirit: never give up, leave no one behind.
Looking back on the journey since September 11, 1995 – the time the Prime Minister signed the decision to establish the Vietnam Disabled Sports Association, now the Vietnam Paralympic Committee – it can be affirmed that disabled sports not only brought glorious achievements to the country, but also became a spiritual support, a flame that lit up the faith and aspiration to live for millions of people.
The achievements of the athletes are a demonstration of the Vietnamese spirit: resilient, indomitable, daring to dream, daring to rise up to win.
From a 30-year foundation, towards a bright future in the international arena
Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh also acknowledged the silent contributions of coaches, staff, volunteers and the responsible support of businesses, social organizations and international friends.
It is this joint effort that has created a Paralympic movement rich in humanity, spreading the spirit of charity, contributing to promoting the image of a Vietnam rich in determination, humanity and aspiration.
In order for Vietnamese disabled sports to continue to grow and advance, the Deputy Prime Minister has directed 6 key orientations. In particular, he emphasized the need to strengthen the Party's leadership and the synchronous coordination of all levels and sectors in effectively implementing policies, resolutions and strategies for sports development associated with work for people with disabilities.
At the same time, perfecting the policy mechanism to ensure equality, fairness, and timeliness in treatment and encouragement of dedication. This is an important step to create conditions for athletes and coaches to feel secure in training, competing and dedicating themselves.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his belief that with the tradition, mettle and aspiration nurtured over three decades, along with the attention of the Party, State and the support of the whole society, the Vietnamese Paralympic movement will certainly shine brightly in the international arena.
The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed: “Every athlete, every coach, every officer working in sports for the disabled is a brave warrior, a messenger of faith and hope. You are not only competing for yourself, but also for the pride of the country, for the aspirations of the nation.”
Over the past 30 years, the Vietnam Paralympic Committee has become a symbol of determination and aspiration to live, affirming the strength of Vietnam's spirit in the international arena. The road ahead is full of challenges, but with the determination, will and support of the whole society, the sports movement for people with disabilities will certainly continue to write golden pages of history, bringing pride to the country, contributing to building a humane, fair society that leaves no one behind, as desired by the leaders of the Party and State.
