Female workers in the integration period: Shining from simple jobs (Part 2)

With determination and will, many female workers, including female workers in enterprises, have proactively learned, improved their qualifications, grasped new technology and constantly devoted themselves to meeting the requirements of enterprises.

They are the beautiful image of female workers in the new era, dynamic, creative, confident and full of aspirations to rise up, contributing to building businesses that are increasingly sustainable.

"Keeping the fire" of the workers' movement alive

Ms. Dang Thi Thom, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Dona Pacific Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Binh Minh Commune) is one of two individuals who have just been awarded by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in the emulation movement "Good at public work, good at housework" for the period 2020-2025. This is not only an honor but also a reward recognizing her contributions in the past time.

Having been with the workers for many years, Ms. Thom is not only an enthusiastic union official, but also a friend, a sister, and a trustworthy companion of hundreds of union members and workers in the company. Ms. Thom always believes: "The union must truly be the common home of the workers, a place where they are listened to, shared with, and protected." This thought has become the guiding principle for all activities of her and the Executive Board of the grassroots union.

With the motto "Where there are workers, there is the Union", Ms. Thom always stays close to the grassroots, grasps the thoughts and aspirations of union members. Thanks to that, the company's Union has implemented many practical activities: negotiating with businesses to adjust salaries and appropriate Tet bonuses; mobilizing support for union members with serious illnesses and difficulties; coordinating with banks to support employees in borrowing capital to save on spending...

Every year, on the occasion of Tet, Ms. Thom and the Executive Board of the Trade Union organize "Tet Sum Vay" to bring joy and warmth to workers far from home. The gifts, although not large, contain sincere feelings, showing the concern of the Trade Union for workers. Not only taking care of material things, Ms. Thom also focuses on the spiritual life of union members. Under her leadership, many exciting emulation movements have been launched, creating an atmosphere of solidarity and cohesion throughout the enterprise.

Worker Tran Le Thu Ha, who has worked for Dona Pacific Vietnam Co., Ltd. for 12 years, said: Working for the company, she not only has a job and a stable income, but also the company and the Union take care of all aspects of her life. From there, it helps her have more confidence and motivation to stick with it and feel secure in her dedication. "I am satisfied because the company has a Union president who is close to the workers like Ms. Dang Thi Thom. In particular, she is a simple person, always giving the most special attention to the workers" - Ms. Ha shared.

Building worker care models

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tin, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Chien Viet Nam Wood Products Production Company Limited (Tam Phuoc Ward) is a typical example in the activities of the Trade Union and the Workers' Movement, especially in caring for and protecting the rights of female workers. In particular, she actively contributes her heart and mind to the development of the enterprise. Her contributions to the enterprise and the lives of workers have received the trust and strong response of the collective of workers.

One of Ms. Tin's outstanding qualities is her ability to dialogue skillfully, confidently but flexibly. In many collective bargaining sessions, she always puts the interests of the workers in parallel with the development of the enterprise. Thanks to that, the Union's recommendations are listened to and resolved appropriately and reasonably by the Board of Directors. "What I care about most is that workers have stable jobs, a safe working environment, and their voices are respected," Ms. Tin shared.

Not only is she a representative of the rights of workers, Ms. Tin is also a shining example in studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh . She is always a pioneer in all activities, ready to take on difficult tasks, exemplary in implementing labor discipline, creating prestige and trust in the collective. Under her leadership, the company's Trade Union has achieved the title of "Excellent Strong Grassroots Trade Union" for many years in a row, and has been commended by the Provincial Federation of Labor; Ms. Tin has been recognized as "Outstanding Trade Union Officer" for many years in a row.

Simple but full of determination, responsibility and love for the job, that is what colleagues and people mention when talking about Ms. Doan Thi Kim Loan, Vice President of the Trade Union of Changshin Vietnam Co., Ltd. Her example is a vivid proof of the image of women in the new era: dedicated to work, creative in action, devoted to work, contributing to the development of the enterprise.

Nearly 30 years with the company is also the time she has been closely involved in the lives of workers and laborers. Having interacted with workers so much, she understands better than anyone the wishes, thoughts, and aspirations of workers, especially female workers, to come up with many practical care models. Specifically, supporting workers to borrow capital to improve their lives, visiting workers in boarding houses, making cheap breakfasts for workers, visiting workers in boarding houses, organizing traditional New Year celebrations for female ethnic minority workers... The above models have contributed to improving the lives of workers, helping them feel secure at work, increasing labor productivity at the enterprise.

Ms. Loan also works with the Executive Board of the Trade Union of Changshin Vietnam Co., Ltd. to promote propaganda, or invite experts to give talks to share the secret to building a happy family with employees. These activities help employees gain more skills and experience in building a family, raising children well, and working with peace of mind at the company.

“From the workshops to grasp the psychology and listen to the workers share about their circumstances and family conflicts, the Trade Union has a better understanding of the workers’ lives. Therefore, every year, the Trade Union has advised the enterprise to arrange time and create conditions for workers to participate in training sessions and talks on the secrets to building a happy family in modern times,” said Ms. Loan.

Ms. Loan said that in the training sessions, many workers registered to participate, boldly asking questions about problems arising in married life. The experts answered fully and in detail so that the workers could easily understand, grasp and apply them in their lives.

Worker Tran Thi Hanh, who works at Changshin Vietnam Co., Ltd., said: In the past, she and her husband both worked shifts, so they had little time to share love and care for their family, so the distance between them became more and more. When participating in the propaganda sessions on building happy families organized by the Union, she learned many lessons for herself and changed herself to take better care of her family.

The above examples have demonstrated the silent dedication, intellectual contribution, courage, and effort for grassroots trade union activities in enterprises and the lives of workers. They still shine silently to help grassroots trade unions in enterprises develop strongly and spread beautiful values about women in the new era, the era of dynamism and creativity to rise up and assert themselves in enterprises and society.

Speaking at the first award ceremony for dynamic, creative and responsible female union members and commendation of the emulation movement "Good at public work, good at housework", President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang emphasized: Through the stages, the emulation movement "Good at public work, good at housework" has always been focused by the union organization on the grassroots level, encouraging female union members and workers to overcome difficulties and complete assigned tasks well.

After nearly 4 decades of implementing the emulation movement "Good at public work, good at housework", it has been affirmed that the movement is not only a competitive slogan but has become the personal need and aspiration of millions of Vietnamese women, to shine in both family and social aspects. The success of the movement and the exemplary female union members are the driving force for the Vietnam Trade Union to continue to innovate the content and methods of operation, promote the potential, intelligence and creativity of female union members and workers in the new period.

According to the Provincial Labor Federation, the emulation movement "Good at public work, good at housework" has been concretized by trade unions at all levels to suit each profession and field of work, attracting a large number of female workers, civil servants and laborers to participate. Since then, it has helped female laborers promote their capacity and creativity, gradually affirming their position and role in the family and society.
