Female workers in the integration period: Shining from simple jobs (Part 2)

PART 2: EFFORTS TO AFFIRM YOURSELF IN BUSINESS

Báo Đồng NaiBáo Đồng Nai28/10/2025

Through perseverance and determination, many female workers, including those in enterprises, have proactively learned, improved their skills, grasped new technologies, and demonstrated unwavering dedication to meet the demands of their businesses.

They are the perfect embodiment of modern female workers: dynamic, creative, confident, and full of aspirations to excel, contributing to the sustainable development of businesses.

"Keeping the flame alive" of the workers' movement

Ms. Dang Thi Thom, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Dona Pacific Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Binh Minh commune), is one of two individuals recently honored by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for their achievements in the "Excellent in National Work, Excellent in Family Responsibilities" emulation movement for the period 2020-2025. This is not only an honor but also a reward recognizing her contributions over the past time.

Having dedicated many years to working alongside the workers, Ms. Thơm is not only a passionate union official but also a trusted friend, sister, and companion to hundreds of union members and employees in the company. Ms. Thơm always believes: "The trade union must truly be a common home for workers, a place where they are listened to, can share their feelings, and are protected." This very thought has become the guiding principle for all her activities and those of the grassroots trade union executive committee.

With the motto "Where there are workers, there is a trade union," Ms. Thơm always stays close to the grassroots, understanding the thoughts and aspirations of union members. Thanks to this, the company's trade union has implemented many practical activities: negotiating with businesses to adjust salaries and Tet bonuses appropriately; mobilizing support for union members suffering from serious illnesses or facing difficulties; coordinating with banks to help workers borrow money to save on expenses...

Every year during Tet (Lunar New Year), Ms. Thom and the Trade Union Executive Committee organize a "Tet Reunion" to bring joy and warmth to workers far from home. The gifts, though not large, contain sincere affection and demonstrate the Trade Union's concern for its employees. Beyond material support, Ms. Thom also focuses on the spiritual well-being of the union members. Under her leadership, many vibrant emulation movements have been launched, creating an atmosphere of unity and solidarity throughout the enterprise.

Worker Tran Le Thu Ha, who has worked at Dona Pacific Vietnam Co., Ltd. for 12 years, said: "Working at the company not only provides me with a stable job and income, but also ensures that the company and the Trade Union take care of all aspects of my life. This gives me more confidence and motivation to stay committed and dedicate myself to the company. I am satisfied because the company has a Trade Union chairperson like Ms. Dang Thi Thom who is attentive and close to the workers. Especially, she is a simple person who always shows the utmost care for the employees," Ms. Ha shared.

Developing models for caring for workers.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tin, Chairwoman of the Trade Union at Chien Viet Nam Woodworking Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Tam Phuoc Ward), is a shining example in trade union activities and the labor movement, especially in activities caring for and protecting the rights of female workers. In particular, she actively dedicates her heart and intellect to the development of the enterprise. Her contributions to the enterprise and the lives of the workers have earned the trust and strong support of the entire workforce.

One of Ms. Tin's outstanding qualities is her skillful and assertive yet flexible approach to dialogue. In numerous collective bargaining sessions, she consistently prioritized the interests of the workers alongside the company's development. As a result, the union's proposals were listened to and addressed fairly and reasonably by the Board of Directors. "What I care about most is that workers have stable jobs, a safe working environment, and their voices are respected," Ms. Tin shared.

Not only is she a representative of workers' rights, Ms. Tin is also a shining example in studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh . She always takes the lead in all activities, readily taking on difficult tasks, setting an example in implementing labor discipline, and building prestige and trust within the team. Under her leadership, the company's trade union has consistently achieved the title of "Outstanding Strong Trade Union" for many years, receiving commendations from the Provincial Federation of Labor; Ms. Tin has been honored as an "Outstanding Trade Union Cadre" for many consecutive years.

Simple yet determined, responsible, and passionate about her work – that's what colleagues and the public say about Ms. Doan Thi Kim Loan, Vice President of the Trade Union at Changshin Vietnam Co., Ltd. Her example is a vivid testament to the image of a modern woman: dedicated to her work, creative in her actions, wholeheartedly committed to her job, and contributing to the development of the enterprise.

Nearly 30 years of dedication to the company also means that she has been deeply involved in the lives of workers. Having interacted with workers extensively, she understands their desires, thoughts, and aspirations, especially those of female workers, better than anyone else. This understanding has led to the development of many practical welfare programs. Specifically, these include supporting workers in obtaining loans to improve their living conditions, visiting workers in rented accommodations, providing affordable breakfasts, and organizing traditional Tet celebrations for ethnic minority female workers. These initiatives have contributed to improving the lives of workers, helping them feel secure in their jobs, and increasing labor productivity within the company.

Ms. Loan, along with the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of Changshin Vietnam Co., Ltd., also actively promotes awareness and invites experts to give thematic talks to share secrets to building happy families for workers. These activities contribute to helping workers gain more skills and experience in nurturing their families, raising children well, and feeling secure in their work at the enterprises.

"Through factory visits to understand workers' psychology and listen to them share their circumstances and family conflicts, the grassroots trade union has gained a better understanding of workers' lives. Therefore, every year, the grassroots trade union advises the enterprise to arrange time and create conditions for workers to participate in training sessions and thematic talks on the secrets of building a happy family in the modern era," Ms. Loan said.

Ms. Loan recounted that during the training sessions, many workers registered to participate and boldly asked questions about issues arising in their married lives. The experts provided thorough and detailed answers, making it easy for the workers to understand, grasp, and apply the information to their lives.

Tran Thi Hanh, a worker at Changshin Vietnam Co., Ltd., said: "Previously, my husband and I both worked shifts, so we had little time to share love and nurture our family, causing distance to grow between us. After participating in the awareness sessions on building happy families organized by the Trade Union, I learned many valuable lessons and changed myself to better care for my family."

These examples demonstrate the silent dedication, intellectual contributions, courage, and hard work of women in grassroots trade union activities within enterprises and in the lives of workers. They quietly shine, contributing to the strong development of grassroots trade unions in enterprises and spreading beautiful values about women in the new era—an era of dynamism, creativity, and self-affirmation within enterprises and society.

Speaking at the first awards ceremony for dynamic, creative, and responsible female trade union members and the commendation of the "Excellent in work, good at home" emulation movement, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Nguyen Dinh Khang, emphasized: Throughout the years, the "Excellent in work, good at home" emulation movement has always been focused on the grassroots level by trade union organizations, encouraging female union members and workers to overcome difficulties and successfully complete their assigned tasks.

Over nearly four decades of implementing the "Excellent in National Service, Competent in Family Responsibilities" emulation movement, it has been affirmed that the movement is not just a slogan but has become a self-driven need and aspiration for millions of Vietnamese women to shine in both family and social aspects. The success of the movement and the exemplary female union members serve as motivation for the Vietnam Trade Union to continue innovating the content and methods of its activities, and to unleash the potential, intelligence, and creativity of female union members and workers in the new era.

According to the Provincial Labor Federation, the "Excellent in National Service, Competent in Family Responsibilities" emulation movement has been concretized by trade unions at all levels to suit each industry and field of work, attracting a large number of female workers, civil servants, and laborers to participate. This has helped female workers develop their abilities and creativity, gradually affirming their position and role in the family and society.
