From building sturdy houses and providing sustainable livelihoods to spreading a culture of sharing to other regions, Kieu Phu has demonstrated the strength of national unity, helping the disadvantaged rise up and ensuring that no one is left behind on the path to building new rural areas and civilized urban areas.

Kieu Phu is strategically located as a crucial transitional zone between traditional rural areas and modern urban life. Immediately after the two-tiered local government system became fully operational, the commune's Party committee and government identified social welfare as one of the key tasks to be implemented.
To ensure comprehensive coverage and effectiveness in the commune, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune has proactively advised the Party Committee and closely coordinated with the government to develop many specific programs and plans to effectively implement social welfare work, paying special attention to near-poor households, policy beneficiary families, and vulnerable groups.

The spirit of humanism has been strongly fostered through widespread participation in movements such as "The whole country joins hands for the poor - no one should be left behind," and meaningful campaigns like the "Fund for the Poor" and the "Month of Action for the Poor." The Vietnam Fatherland Front in the commune has become a reliable bridge for organizing and receiving donations from businesses, philanthropists, and all sectors of the population. Activities such as visiting and giving gifts to poor households, people in difficult circumstances, policy beneficiary families, and those who have rendered meritorious services are continuously maintained, especially during holidays, Tet (Lunar New Year), and the National Unity Day (November 18)...
To ensure that all support reaches the right people at the right time, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune directed the villages to thoroughly review, publicly and transparently disclose the list of policy beneficiary households, near-poor households, as well as households with particularly difficult housing circumstances, and submit it to the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune. After receiving the list, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune formed teams to conduct on-site surveys and make objective assessments. Based on these results, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune developed an implementation plan, proactively mobilized and solicited support, and received resources effectively and strategically.
The results of these efforts are truly commendable. In the first five months of 2025, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kieu Phu commune mobilized a total of over 10.6 billion VND. This resource has been used effectively, creating noticeable changes in the lives of the people.
Most notably, 107 houses were built and renovated for families of war veterans, near-poor households, and households in difficult circumstances. These new houses are not only shelters from the rain and sun but also symbols of care and provide a solid foundation for these families to stabilize their lives and improve their situation.
Alongside housing construction, Kieu Phu commune has also effectively implemented a series of other social welfare activities. In particular, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune coordinated with benefactors to donate 40 wheelchairs worth 80 million VND to war veterans and people with disabilities, helping them move more conveniently, reducing the burden on their families, and giving them the opportunity to integrate into the community.
The future of the younger generation was also given serious attention through the donation of 56 bicycles worth 84 million VND to underprivileged but academically优秀 students. In addition, 45 gift packages worth 45 million VND were also given to disadvantaged households, providing timely encouragement.
In particular, to realize the goal of sustainable poverty reduction and create long-term livelihoods, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune has focused on creating production tools; 5 electric motorbikes worth 100 million VND, 5 breeding cows worth 100 million VND, and 1 sewing machine worth 10 million VND have been donated. These gifts are the "fishing rods" that help disadvantaged households develop their economy independently and escape poverty sustainably.
Bui Thi Thao (from Can Thuong village), a member of a near-poor household and a disabled person herself, was delighted to receive a breeding cow and shared: "I thank the philanthropists, agencies, and organizations in Kieu Phu commune for their concern, support, and assistance in providing livelihoods for near-poor households to improve their lives. I hope that households still facing difficulties like mine will continue to be 'given a fishing rod' to have the capital to create a more prosperous life."
Notably, in the movement to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas, the Fatherland Front and its member organizations in the commune have actively propagated and mobilized thousands of members and people to participate in general environmental sanitation campaigns, planting more than 5,000 trees, and mobilizing support for the installation of a security camera system in the commune worth up to 3 billion VND...

The impressive achievements in social welfare work in Kieu Phu are the "sweet fruits" nurtured by the spirit of national unity. Besides caring for local people, member organizations of the Fatherland Front also promote the spirit of "mutual support and compassion" towards people facing difficulties due to natural disasters. A prime example is the donation of essential goods to households in Thai Nguyen province worth over 150 million VND; Buddhist charitable groups and people in the commune also organized trips to support the provinces and cities of Thai Nguyen, Hue, Quang Tri, and Nghe An with money and essential goods worth over 300 million VND.
Most recently, in response to the call from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the city of Hanoi to support people in Central and Central Highlands regions, officials and people in the commune have donated cash and essential goods worth 680 million VND...

Furthermore, socio-political organizations also play a crucial role in concretizing the spirit of national unity and supporting vulnerable groups. Typical examples include: the Farmers' Association effectively implementing the movements "Farmers competing in excellent production and business" and "Solidarity to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty"; the Vietnam Women's Union with the movements "Women actively studying, working creatively, and building happy families," the "5 no's, 3 clean" campaign, and the "Green living women's group" model; the Veterans' Association with the emulation movement "Exemplary Veterans"; and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union organizing movements "Pioneering, volunteering, socio-economic development, and national defense" and "Accompanying young people in establishing themselves and their careers." Each organization has practical activities, creating a combined strength to help its members, near-poor households, and households with difficult circumstances achieve sustainable poverty reduction.
The Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kieu Phu commune, Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, affirmed that the above results stem from the achievements of building national unity and emphasized: "From the spirit of national unity, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in the commune has intensified propaganda, mobilization, persuasion, and encouragement of all strata of the people to fully exploit the combined strength of the entire population in contributing and supporting efforts, money, intellect, and social resources to successfully implement social welfare programs and campaigns in the commune."
According to Comrade Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, during the implementation of the programs, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune always closely followed the direct, absolute, and comprehensive leadership of the Party committees at all levels. The Fatherland Front also advised the Party committees on the issuance and effective implementation of social welfare programs and campaigns launched by higher levels.
To implement programs more effectively in the future, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations at the commune level will organize many exchange activities at the village level so that cadres have the opportunity to be close to the people, listen to, dialogue with, and promptly resolve the legitimate requests of the people. Through this, the bridge between the Party and the people will be further strengthened. At the same time, we will strengthen exchanges between the people and businesses, religious leaders, influential figures, and philanthropists to have opportunities to promote and mobilize support for social welfare programs.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune will closely coordinate with the commune government, specialized agencies, and village heads to effectively inspect, review, and survey programs and target groups in need of assistance. From there, they will implement activities to help near-poor households and households with difficult circumstances by: providing livestock, crops, and production equipment; disseminating farming and labor methods; supporting loan access; and introducing vocational training...
Alongside providing support, the Fatherland Front of the commune will strictly implement a process of openness, democracy, and transparency in receiving support to build trust among the people. At the same time, commendations and awards for outstanding collectives and individuals in supporting social welfare programs will be promptly given to spread these noble acts of kindness.
