Please help this young man awaiting a kidney transplant from his mother.

(Dong Nai) - “I am ready to donate one of my kidneys so that my child can live a more comfortable life, without having to undergo dialysis for the rest of their life. But the surgery still costs more than one billion dong. My family has sold our house and poured everything we have into it, but it's still not enough. I am submitting a plea for help to the 'Aspiration for Life' program and hoping for the compassion of the community - the only lifeline for my family right now,” - poor mother Ngo Thi Thuong (41 years old) choked back tears.

Ms. Thuong is a hired rubber tapper at the Long Hung 2 rubber plantation in Binh Tan commune, Dong Nai province. Her husband, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Chien (50 years old), is a freelance worker, doing various jobs from construction work and loading/unloading to strenuous farm work, yet his income remains unstable.

Due to difficult circumstances, the eldest son, Nguyen Duy Truong (20 years old), who had only completed 9th grade, had to drop out of school to stay home and help his mother work odd jobs to make ends meet and ensure his younger brother, Nguyen Truong An (13 years old), could continue his education.

Just when it seemed the hardships and struggles would gradually pass, in September 2025, a cruel illness struck. Truong contracted dengue fever, and during a thorough examination, doctors discovered he had end-stage chronic kidney failure, along with heart failure and ischemic heart disease... Truong's life was constantly threatened by unpredictable complications. Without timely intervention, he would have to be on a dialysis machine for the rest of his life.

Unable to bear watching their child endure the pain of going in and out of the hospital for dialysis 2-3 times a week, Ms. Thuong and her husband decided they had to get a kidney transplant for their child at all costs. Fortunately, in this difficult situation, the tests showed that Ms. Thuong's kidney had a good compatibility. "My child is so young, with a long future ahead. If my kidney can help my child live, even if it means sacrificing my own health, I will gladly do it," Ms. Thuong shared.

Having received the invaluable gift of life from his mother, Duy Truong has a 50% chance of survival. However, the remaining 50% depends on the cost of a kidney transplant, post-operative care, and long-term anti-rejection medication… with an estimated cost of around 1 billion VND. This is an enormous sum, beyond the means of a poor working-class family.

To pay for their child's treatment, over the past three months, Thuong's family has had to sell their house, which provided shelter from the elements. They have also tried everything, borrowing money from everywhere and exhausting all their resources… but it's still not enough.

"I love my mother so much that she's worn herself out because of me, I love seeing my father struggling everywhere, heartbroken to see our beloved house sold, and our family falling into dire straits and despair… I will try my best to fight the disease, hoping to recover quickly, to repay her kindness and have more hope for the future," Duy Truong choked up, wiping away his tears.

We appeal to our readers and benefactors to join hands and provide a little more love and hope so that Duy Truong can have enough money for surgery, overcome this life-or-death situation, and so that the sacrifice of his poor mother will not be in vain.
