(CLO) Microsoft today officially released the Copilot application for the macOS operating system, used in Apple's MacBook lines.
Similar to the Windows version, the Copilot app for Mac provides access to the web version of Microsoft's AI assistant, where users can upload images and create content in the form of text or images.

The macOS version of Copilot also supports dark mode and allows you to activate the AI assistant with Command + Space, similar to Alt + Space on Windows. Microsoft is currently rolling out Copilot for Mac in the US, UK, and Canada, and updating the iPad version with split screen mode.
Additionally, iPhone and iPad users can now sign in to Copilot with their Apple ID and upload text or PDF files to ask questions or request summaries. This document summarization feature will also be coming soon to the Copilot app for macOS.
The launch of Copilot on macOS comes just days after Microsoft made Copilot Voice and Think Deeper free with unlimited use. Previously, Think Deeper (powered by the OpenAI o1 model) and Voice in Copilot were both limited to free users, but Microsoft has lifted those restrictions to allow users to have longer conversations with its AI assistant.
Copilot’s expansion across multiple platforms reflects Microsoft’s strategy to make its AI assistant available to more users while also enhancing cross-device interoperability. The move also puts Microsoft in direct competition with other AI assistants like Google Gemini and Apple Siri, as AI becomes an increasingly important part of the tech ecosystem.
