Mitsubishi Triton 2025 achieves new 5-star ANCAP safety standard

The 2025 Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck has just been awarded a 5-star safety rating by the Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) for all body configurations.

The new 2025 Mitsubishi Triton is the first pickup truck to pass the new, more stringent standards, which will be applied by ANCAP from 2023.

The test results show that the 2025 Mitsubishi Triton provides high protection for the driver, front passenger and children, especially in severe collisions. The pickup truck scored maximum points in many important categories, demonstrating significant resistance to impact in frontal, offset and side impacts. These are all key tests in the ANCAP safety assessment system.

In the pedestrian and cyclist protection test group - a category that is very challenging for pickup models, the 2025 Triton scored quite well, surpassing many competitors in the same segment.

Despite its positive scores, the 2025 Triton still has some room for improvement. The Triton’s driver assistance technology has not yet been rated at its highest level by ANCAP. The car’s current autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system is not sophisticated enough to effectively handle complex collision situations such as T-junctions or head-on collisions in real-world conditions.

Notably, the 2025 Mitsubishi Triton is one of the first models in Australia to be publicly tested with a Driver Monitoring System - a new criterion that is gradually being included in ANCAP's comprehensive assessment.

With a 5-star safety rating according to the new criteria of ANCAP, Mitsubishi Triton 2025 not only affirms its pioneering position in safety in the pickup segment, but also demonstrates efforts to upgrade technology to meet increasingly stringent requirements from the international market.
