In his most recent appearance, Ly Van Huynh lost to South African boxer - Armando de Crescenzo in the championship match at the LION Championship 19 event (November 2024). The left kick of the boxer born in 1998 still showed its power, but could not finish his opponent, leading to the opportunity to end the match for Crescenzo in the first round.
In the next match, Ly Van Huynh faces a challenge named Do Thanh Chuong - a candidate who has just announced his return after a year of absence, hoping to have his first chance to compete for the belt.
The quick knockout victory over Le Hoang Nhat Long at the 2024 event was a "warning" from Thanh Chuong to Van Huynh - who has not lost any matches against Vietnamese opponents.
Previously, 70kg champion Jovidon Khojaev announced his promotion to 77kg to aim for his second title at the LION Championship, promising a highly anticipated conquest. The winner of the match between Ly Van Huynh and Do Thanh Chuong will be Jovidon Khojaev's opponent for the 77kg championship.
Also at LION Championship 27, Vietnamese Muay champion Tran Quoc Tuan will make his debut in the MMA Striking format, with a match against Thai opponent Vorapon Jayamram.
Quoc Tuan, who has held the WBC Muay Thai international belt and had two fights at ONE Championship (Asian mixed martial arts tournament), is currently one of the most famous Muay Thai fighters in Vietnam. He will face young boxer Vorapon Jayamran - who held the championship belt at the famous Omnoi Stadium in the Golden Temple country.
The LION Championship 27 event also witnessed the final match of the 65kg weight class in the MMA Striking format. The boxer who owns a two-game winning streak, Nguyen Van Lam, will meet the opponent he defeated before - young talent Luu Huy Duc.
In the first match, Van Lam won Huy Duc on points in the Quarterfinals in an extremely tense match. The second chance came to Huy Duc when a candidate in the remaining bracket of the 65kg weight class withdrew, giving him a second chance to compete for the championship. In the semi-finals, Huy Duc showed remarkable progress when he overcame veteran Wushu fighter Dinh Van Can.
Along with the notable matches mentioned above, LION Championship 27 continues to focus on MMA Pro matches and two MMA Striking 60kg semi-finals.
