Opening new cooperation opportunities between Vietnam and Ivory Coast

Within the framework of the official visit to Vietnam of the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire (Republic of Côte d'Ivoire) Adama Bictogo, at noon on June 14, at the National Assembly House, right after the talks and the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding between the leaders of the two National Assemblies, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the President of the National Assembly of the Ivory Coast met with the press of the two countries to announce the results of the talks.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said that the visit of the Ivorian National Assembly Chairman with the participation of two National Assembly Vice Chairmen and many parliamentarians shows the respect of Ivory Coast as well as the sentiments of the Ivorian people in general and the Ivorian National Assembly in particular for the country and people of Vietnam.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue affirmed that Ivory Coast is Vietnam's leading important partner in the African region. The two National Assembly Chairmen had a very successful meeting, discussed extensively the relationship between the two National Assemblies and signed a Cooperation Agreement between the two Legislative Bodies.

The two sides expressed their determination to do their utmost to make the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Ivory Coast National Assembly one of the models of the Vietnamese National Assembly with African countries, actively contributing to the development of friendly cooperation between the two parliamentary bodies.

In particular, in the work of law-making, the two sides shared experiences in national development, building frameworks and institutions to strengthen economic , investment and trade relations between the two countries in the coming time.

Cooperation between the two National Assembly agencies will be a "catalyst" and a driving force to contribute to developing the relationship between the two countries in a more comprehensive and substantive manner in the fields of politics, diplomacy, economics, trade, investment, educational cooperation - training, science - technology, agriculture, and people-to-people exchange, for the benefit and happiness of the people of the two countries.

The National Assembly Chairman expressed his belief that after the visit of the Ivorian National Assembly Chairman, it will be a very important new milestone to bring the relationship between the two countries in general and the relationship between the two National Assemblies to a new level.

Speaking to the press of the two countries, President of the National Assembly Adama Bictogo emphasized that through the visit, Ivory Coast wishes to further accelerate economic and trade relations between the two countries. Vietnam has always played a very important role. In particular, Vietnam is one of the top 20 countries in the world in attracting foreign investment, a role model, a development model that Ivory Coast is particularly interested in; at the same time, he wishes to invite Vietnamese businesses to invest and cooperate in Africa.

The President of the Ivorian National Assembly believes that in order to transform the economy, Ivory Coast must succeed in transforming agriculture, and to transform agriculture, it is necessary to transform skills and capacity in agricultural processing. The President of the Ivorian National Assembly gave examples of products such as cashew nuts, cotton, and cocoa; saying that both Ivory Coast and Vietnam need to have a more worthy position in the value chain of agricultural products that the two countries are exporting in the international market.

Affirming that the numbers speak volumes, according to the President of the Ivory Coast National Assembly, the upcoming task of the two National Assemblies will be to build legal frameworks and mechanisms to facilitate businesses of the two countries to do business in each country.

After more than 35 years of implementing the renovation policy, Vietnam has transformed from an underdeveloped country into a model of development. With economic and political stability, an open foreign policy, a desire to be friends with all countries, and under the leadership of President Alassane Ouattara, Ivory Coast is determined to promote cooperative relations with Vietnam.

For Ivory Coast, Vietnam is an important partner, the "key" for Ivory Coast to strengthen relations with ASEAN. Ivory Coast is ready to act as a bridge to help Vietnam strengthen relations with the West African region in particular and Africa in general.
