TPO - As a key project aimed at reducing traffic congestion, the Au Co - Nhat Tan road project has been delayed for many years due to numerous procedural obstacles, affecting traffic and the daily lives of residents. A representative from the project management board stated that they are working to overcome the delays and complete the project before June 30th.
Due to high traffic volume, especially in the inner city (Ba Dinh district) direction towards Noi Bai airport, while the road is only 2 lanes wide, since 2018 Hanoi city has approved the project to build the An Duong intersection (phase 1) and upgrade and expand the Nghi Tam - Au Co - Nhat Tan road (phase 2) to 6 to 8 lanes. |
To widen the road, the investor, the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board), lowered the Red River dike section passing through Au Co - Nghi Tam and replaced it with a concrete dike. |
The project was scheduled for completion in 2020; however, according to the investor, due to numerous procedural obstacles, including licensing and agreements for dike construction, the project remains unfinished and is behind schedule. This has significantly impacted traffic and transportation in recent times. |
Besides causing traffic congestion on the main road, the project construction site is blocking many sections of local roads used by residents on both sides of Au Co - Nhat Tan road. |
The project is not yet finished, and residents on both sides of the road are having difficulty getting through the construction site. |
Speaking to a reporter from Tien Phong newspaper about the current construction status of the project, a representative of the Hanoi Transportation Project Management Board said that the road widening project from Yen Phu intersection to Nhat Tan bridge has been basically completed, and contractors are now required to work day and night to fill and pave the road surface. |
The Âu Cơ - Nhật Tân road now has a width of 6 to 8 lanes, instead of the previous 2 to 4 lanes. |
The widened sections are currently being prepared with embankment and compaction to complete the project. |
Currently, along the entire 3.7 km stretch of road, many sections have been widened, including the section passing through Quang An Flower Market and the People's Committee of Nhat Tan Ward, and have been paved with asphalt, preparing for use. |
Regarding the project's progress, a representative from the Hanoi Transportation Project Management Board informed Tien Phong newspaper that the Board is accelerating construction to complete and open the project for technical traffic before June 30th of this year.
According to the Traffic Project Management Board, in order to secure the necessary space for the project's rapid construction, the inter-agency traffic management and police departments are currently implementing a traffic diversion plan on the Au Co - Nghi Tam section from Yen Phu to An Duong, prohibiting car traffic. From now until June, vehicles traveling on this route will follow the Au Co - An Duong - Thanh Nien road route, then enter Yen Phu road to access the An Duong - Thanh Nien intersection.
