Mrs. Le Tien Huong is 84 years old this year. She was born into a family with a revolutionary tradition. Her father, Mr. Le Van Dau, participated in revolutionary activities from an early age, and her mother, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tram, was also involved in the resistance movement during the fierce years of war. This environment instilled in Mrs. Huong a love for her country and a revolutionary spirit from a very young age.

In 1963, Ms. Huong had the honor of joining the Party. During a period when the local revolutionary movement faced many difficulties, she participated in women's and youth work, served as a liaison officer, and directly worked at the grassroots level. During those years, this female revolutionary cadre had to live a nomadic life, facing constant danger, yet she remained steadfast in her belief in the reunification of the country.

On May 3, 1967, Ms. Huong was captured by the enemy after an informant betrayed her. From then on, the female Party member entered a series of brutal tortures in enemy prisons. Recalling that time, she still clearly remembers each beating, each time she was electrocuted until she fainted. At times, the enemy used 220V electricity to clamp onto her ears, causing her whole body to convulse and her head to spin as if "the world was falling apart." After each interrogation, her body was bruised, and many of the wounds remain to this day.

What earned her admiration from many was not only her endurance, but also the courage of this female party member in the face of the enemy. During interrogations, she did not bow her head in confession, nor did she reveal her revolutionary organization. “I am not guilty. You are unjustly accusing me like this; I will go to the government and sue you for bullying and slandering women,” Ms. Huong recalled telling the enemy.

Not only did she maintain her own resolve, but she also encouraged those in similar circumstances to love and support each other to overcome the dark days in prison. Amidst the electric shocks and violence, this former female Party member still preserved her integrity, compassion, and unwavering faith in the Party.

After the reunification of the country, Ms. Le Tien Huong left the war zone and joined a new front: the post-war reconstruction of her homeland. The former female Party member continued to take on responsibilities in women's affairs and gradually rose through the ranks from the grassroots to the provincial level.

In the early years after liberation, the homeland faced many difficulties, people's lives were impoverished, and infrastructure was almost depleted. During this time, Ms. Huong was appointed Chairwoman of the Women's Association of Phu Chau District. Undeterred by hardship, she regularly visited local communities to encourage women to work, produce, take care of their family finances , and build a strong association.

In 1977, she was elected a member of the Standing Committee of the An Giang Provincial Women's Union, and later served as Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union. Regardless of her position, she maintained a style that was close to the people, deeply involved at the grassroots level, and practiced what she preached.

Many officials who worked with her fondly remember the image of this humble female official, always present in the most difficult areas. When the locality faced difficulties, Ms. Huong personally went to mobilize the people. When women's association members were in difficult circumstances, she found ways to help and encourage them to overcome challenges and stabilize their lives.

For her contributions to women's organizations and movements, Ms. Huong was awarded the "New Woman Building and Defending the Fatherland" badge by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union. She also received numerous commendations, medals, and awards from the Party and the State. This is not only a recognition of her individual contributions but also a testament to the enduring dedication of this female revolutionary cadre after peace was restored.

Contributing to the development of her homeland, Ms. Huong continued to be entrusted with the position of Secretary of the Vinh Hoa Commune Party Committee for three consecutive terms. In her capacity as the head of the local Party committee, she always maintained a thorough approach, always listening to the thoughts and aspirations of the people to resolve difficulties at the grassroots level.

Mr. Tran Van Tien, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Vinh Xuong commune, commented: "The most valuable thing about Ms. Ba Huong is the consistency between her words and actions. Whether still working or retired, she maintains the qualities of a communist party member, lives an exemplary life, is close to the people, and actively contributes to the locality."
