On August 27, Bach Mai Hospital informed that recently, doctors of the Department of Plastic Surgery received many female patients with serious complications, endangering their health after going to beauty salons at some spas. Doctor Pham Thi Viet Dung, Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery, Bach Mai Hospital, said that the most recent patient was Ms. D.THT (37 years old, from Nghe An ) who was hospitalized with both thighs swollen, edematous, oozing wounds, and even necrosis.

Through investigation, in early August, Ms. D.TH went to a spa near her home to have liposuction on both thighs. After about 2-3 weeks, her thighs began to swell, accumulate a lot of fluid, become painful and have a fever. After being treated at the provincial hospital but not improving, her relatives took her to Bach Mai Hospital for treatment. At the hospital, doctors performed multiple surgeries on this patient, with great difficulty treating the damaged tissues due to multiple infections, then removing scars and reconstructing the thighs.

Previously, another patient after liposuction at a private medical facility suffered serious complications when the wound leaked fluid, the wound opened wide, became infected and became necrotic. When she was taken to Bach Mai Hospital, the female patient was very panicked when she saw a large hole in her abdomen and the ulcer was constantly getting wider due to necrosis. Doctors treated the wound infection, performed skin graft surgery and reconstructed the female patient's abdomen.

According to Dr. Pham Thi Viet Dung, when people's demand for beauty increases, many spas and beauty centers have developed. However, many people want to beautify themselves but lack thorough research, leading to unpredictable consequences that are life-threatening.
