MU closes transfer window with expensive deal

After Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, MU is determined to get Carlos Baleba's signature to close the summer transfer window of 2025.

British media have confirmed that MU is trying to negotiate to recruit Carlos Baleba from Brighton. The deal is not easy because the "Seagulls" want to keep the 20-year-old midfielder until at least 2026. The Athletic also confirmed that Brighton will not sell Baleba for less than 100 million pounds.

However, MU determined that Baleba would be the signature that would help the club's midfield transform. Therefore, the "Red Devils" soon made an initial approach to discuss the fee, although Brighton was stubborn. It is likely that MU will increase the price after successfully selling players who are no longer in the plan such as Alejandro Garnacho, Antony or Jadon Sancho.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano added: "As for Baleba, the young Cameroonian talent is said to be very excited about the prospect of joining Old Trafford." Baleba is likely to be the Red Devils' summer 2025 transfer signing.

MU has spent more than £200 million on three new strikers including Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko. However, coach Ruben Amorim admitted that the current squad still lacks speed and flexibility in the midfield area, thereby bringing in a central midfielder has become a top priority.

In the 2024/25 season, Baleba made 40 appearances in all competitions, becoming an indispensable pillar under coach Fabian Hurzeler. He was compared to his senior Moises Caicedo due to the similar playing style.
