The lack of a European Cup spot means that MU will not have to play too many matches in the 2025/26 season. However, Mirror assessed that the current squad of the "Red Devils" still lacks quality in many important positions.
Coach Amorim hopes to recruit at least two more players - a striker and a midfielder - in addition to selling out players who are no longer suitable such as Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia.
The 0-0 draw with Leeds on July 19 showed that United need a striker capable of scoring over 20 goals a season. Mbeumo conquered this milestone last season. However, United are still willing to spend money on this position.
Since the beginning of this summer transfer window, MU has been continuously rejected by important targets. Liam Delap decided to choose Chelsea, while Viktor Gyokeres refused to reunite with coach Amorim so he could join Arsenal. Hugo Ekitike, Frankfurt's key striker, is also preparing to join Liverpool.
This leaves MU lacking quality options to fill the striker position. Rasmus Hojlund, the "Red Devils'" real striker, has been a big disappointment since joining the team for 72 million pounds.
Meanwhile, MU has not pushed to buy more midfielders this summer. Currently, Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, Casemiro, Toby Collyer and Bruno Fernandes will share two positions in the center.
MU will arrive in the US on July 22 to begin a tour against three Premier League clubs: West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton.
