Last month, the Red Devils made a second bid of £62.5m, the same amount they paid Wolves for Matheus Cunha, but Brentford rejected it, leaving United concerned the deal could stall.

Today, the Red Devils leadership decided to raise the price for the third time, to 65 million pounds plus 5 million pounds in additional fees. The information was confirmed by reputable sources such as journalist David Ornstein (The Athletic) and Fabrizio Romano.

The Manchester club are hopeful Brentford will agree to sell Mbeumo - who has made it clear he wants to move to Old Trafford.

The Cameroon striker still needs to undergo a medical examination when the two clubs agree on the transfer fee, then fly to the US to join the tour with the new team.

If the deal is approved, Mbeumo will become MU's third signing in this summer transfer window, after Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon.

Coach Ruben Amorim is determined to have two new strikers in the attack, taking on the number 10 role in the 3-4-2-1 system, so the club is willing to spend a lot of money to bring in Cunha and Mbeumo.

The 25-year-old striker scored 20 goals in the Premier League last season. Mbeumo also received interest from Tottenham and Newcastle but his heart is set on Old Trafford.

MU football director - Jason Wilcox sees Mbeumo as a priority signing who can immediately improve the Red Devils' attack, which only scored 44 goals in the Premier League last season.
