Italian press said Man City has reached an agreement to sign goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG with a transfer fee of about 27 million euros.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper agreed to join Pep Guardiola's team a few weeks ago. Donnarumma comes to replace Ederson, who left the Etihad for Fenerbahce, after 8 years with the club.

Donnarumma underwent a medical examination at Man City today (September 1, Vietnam time), before signing a 5-year contract with an option for an additional 12 months.

He enjoys a sky-high salary at Etihad, with the first year being 15 million euros/year, then 16 million euros for the second and third years, and in the final two years increasing to 17 million euros.

Thus, it can be seen that Man City is willing to spend a lot of money to satisfy what PSG cannot give Donnarumma. After the great success of last season, this goalkeeper wants the rich French team to increase his salary in the new contract negotiations, compared to the 12.7 million euros he is receiving.

However, PSG did not agree, leading to a breakdown in the relationship between the two sides, culminating in head coach Luis Enrique removing Donnarumma from the European Super Cup squad, followed by confirmation of the departure of the person involved.

Donnarumma joined PSG in the summer of 2021, from AC Milan on a free transfer. He has 1 year left on his contract with PSG. Initially, the Ligue 1 champions wanted 50 million euros from this goalkeeper.

However, in the face of possibly losing Donnarumma for free next year, PSG accepted a price reduction in the final days of the summer transfer window, agreeing to sell the 26-year-old goalkeeper to Man City for a price believed to be around 27 million euros.
