FIFPro 2024-2025 squad: Ronaldo, Messi but no Vinicius

The Professional Footballers' Association (FIFPro) announced 26 candidates for the 2024-2025 World Football Team of the Year (World 11). Surprisingly, Real Madrid striker Vinicius was not named.

Vinicius was one of 11 players included in the FIFPro Team of the Season for 2023-2024. However, he was not nominated for the 2024-2025 season, despite his impressive performances.

The Real Madrid striker scored 22 goals and provided 19 assists in 59 matches for Real Madrid last season.

Besides Vinicius, Real Madrid has five other nominees for the ideal team: goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, Federico Valverde, Jude Bellingham, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Kylian Mbappe.

Even veteran Luka Modric – who left Real Madrid to join AC Milan – is included.

Reigning Champions League champions PSG dominate the nominations with seven players: William Pacho, Marquinhos, Vitinha, Joao Neves, Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes, and Ousmane Dembele.

Lamine Yamal, along with his teammates Pedri, Raphinha, and Pau Cubarsi, are among the Barca players included in the nomination list.

It is noteworthy that superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi also appear on the list of nominees for FIFPro's Team of the Year.

The FIFPro Team of the Year is voted on by 26,000 players from 68 countries. This is the only award in the world voted on by all professional players.

The selected team will consist of a goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders, and three forwards. The remaining spot will be awarded to the player with the highest number of votes, regardless of position. The FIFPro 2024-2025 Team of the Year will be announced on November 3rd.

The FIFPro Team of the Season for 2023-2024 includes: goalkeeper Ederson; Dani Carvajal, Virgil Van Dijk, Antonio Rudiger; Jude Bellingham, Toni Kroos, Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne; Vinicius, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.
