Also during this time, the Vietnam U22 team has two consecutive training sessions. The fourth training session in 2025 will take place from November 10 to 19, focusing on participating in the Panda Cup 2025 International Friendly Tournament in China. The tournament will bring together many strong teams in the region such as China U22, Uzbekistan U22 and Korea U22. In this training session, the Vietnam U22 team is expected to call up about 26 players.
Immediately after the tournament in China, the U22 Vietnam team will enter the fifth training session from November 23 to December 19. The team is expected to train in Vung Tau city from November 23 to 29, then move to Ho Chi Minh City before leaving for Thailand on December 2 to attend the Games.
At the 33rd SEA Games, men's football has 10 participating teams, divided into 3 groups: Group A and Group B with 3 teams each, Group C with 4 teams. The teams compete in a round robin; the three group winners and the second-placed team with the best record will qualify for the semi-finals.
The seeding groups are determined based on performance and hosting rights, including Thailand (host, code A1), Indonesia and Vietnam (pot 1); Myanmar, Malaysia, Cambodia (pot 2); Timor Leste, Philippines, Laos (pot 3) and Singapore (pot 4). The draw results put the U22 Vietnam team in group B, along with Malaysia and Laos.
According to the schedule, the group stage will take place from December 3 to 12; the semi-finals will be on December 15; the bronze medal matches and the final will be on December 18. Three stadiums have been chosen to host the matches, including Rajamangala (Bangkok), Tinsulanonda (Songkhla province) and 700th Anniversary of Chiangmai (Chiangmai city), of which Rajamangala Stadium will be the venue for the semi-finals and finals.
In the group stage, the U22 Vietnam team will meet the U22 Laos team on December 5 and the U22 Malaysia team on December 11. Both matches will take place at the 700th Anniversary Stadium in Chiangmai city.
