Real Madrid consider suing UEFA for millions of euros in compensation. |
Real Madrid are set for a major legal battle with UEFA after the Madrid High Court dismissed all appeals by UEFA, the RFEF and La Liga over the Super League case. The ruling confirmed UEFA abused its dominant position and violated competition rules in the European Union.
On its homepage, Real Madrid expressed its support for this decision and affirmed that it will consider suing UEFA to claim compensation for the "significant" damages that the club said it suffered in the process of promoting the Super League.
Real Madrid said they had held several discussions with UEFA in 2025 but failed to reach any agreement on key issues such as governance transparency, financial sustainability, player health protection or improving the fan experience. Real Madrid stressed the need for a more accessible global broadcasting model, similar to the one FIFA has implemented for the Club World Cup.
The club said it would continue to act “in the interests of global football and its fans” and take legal action to seek compensation from UEFA.
The conflict between the two biggest powers in European football is likely to continue, as the Super League remains a hotbed of controversy and Real Madrid continues to lead the effort to change the current football order.
