"Red Rain" - Artistic and responsible mark in the new era of Military Cinema

On the afternoon of October 7, at the Guest House of the Foreign Affairs Department, Ministry of National Defense (33 Pham Ngu Lao, Hanoi), the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army held a conference to summarize the production and propaganda work of the feature film "Red Rain" - a key work celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

Also attending were: General Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense.

The conference aims to comprehensively evaluate the implementation process of the production and promotion of the feature film "Red Rain" - one of the key art works directed by the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense , produced by the People's Army Cinema, towards the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

The conference recognized, commended and rewarded collectives and individuals with outstanding, creative and effective achievements throughout the project implementation process, including the directing team, scriptwriters, actors, logistics and technical units and coordinating forces inside and outside the military.

The feature film "Red Rain" emotionally recreates the 81 days and nights of Quang Tri Citadel in 1972. The success of the film is the result of a long journey, in which the decisive support is the comprehensive leadership and direction of leaders and commanders at all levels, along with the harmonious coordination of many agencies and units.

Since the project was first developed, the People's Army Cinema has received direct and consistent guidance from the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense and the Chief of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army. In the preparation stage, the Ministry of National Defense, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, and the General Staff have stepped in, directing the forces to coordinate in providing technical solutions and equipment, and at the same time mobilizing resources to ensure that the film crew has enough conditions to recreate the battlefield atmosphere realistically.

Military Regions 3, 4, 7, 9 and the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command actively supported, from surveying, selecting the setting, arranging the training ground, to mobilizing mechanical vehicles and military equipment, creating large-scale settings that closely followed historical reality.

In addition to supporting the facilities, thousands of officers and soldiers from the units directly participated in many stages of production. They took on roles in the battle reenactment scenes, contributed to building trenches and battlefields, and closely coordinated with the artist team to ensure safety, discipline and artistic effectiveness.

"Red Rain" also received deep support from the government and people of Quang Tri province, the historical land associated with the film. Authorities at all levels created favorable conditions for infrastructure, security, order, and supported the film crew in preserving and maintaining historical relics throughout the filming process.

Local people shared facilities, accompanied in providing on-site logistics, and directly contributed to many stages, from setting up the scene to participating as extras in filming scenes... In particular, many veterans and historical researchers participated as consultants for the film.

The actresses of the movie "Red Rain" received awards for their contributions in the movie.

From the achieved results, the conference also aims to propose the next directions, solutions and tasks in organizing the creation, production and propaganda of cultural and artistic works on the topics of armed forces, revolutionary war, Uncle Ho's soldiers, and building a national defense in the coming time.

Thereby, continuing to affirm the special role of culture in the cause of building a Vietnam People's Army strong in politics, ideology, organization and ethics, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation; at the same time, enriching the spiritual life of soldiers and people, consolidating the people's hearts and minds - the solid foundation of all-people national defense.
