VnExpressVnExpress03/08/2023

My skin often secretes a lot of oil, my face is shiny in the summer, is it because of excess moisture and I don't need to moisturize every day? (Ngoc, 22 years old, Hanoi )

Reply:

Summer weather and sunlight make the skin sweat a lot and the sebaceous glands are active, leading to acne or making acne worse. Sitting in air conditioning continuously also makes the skin dry and age quickly due to dehydration. Therefore, whether you have oily, dry or combination skin, you still need to use moisturizer every day.

Moisturize your skin twice a day, morning and night. If you are worried about clogged pores or wear a mask frequently, you can use moisturizer once at night before going to bed.

The ideal amount of moisturizer for summer is about two pea-sized (3-5 ml) for a small face and three pea-sized (5-7 ml) for a large or square face. Using too much or too little can reduce or eliminate the moisturizing effect.

In hot weather conditions, avoid oil-based moisturizers. This can clog pores and give bacteria a chance to thrive.

You should combine moisturizing and sun protection every day for optimal skin care and protection. Use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and cover up carefully before going out.

The criteria for beautiful skin is healthy skin. Therefore, you should provide comprehensive moisture to the skin, drink enough water to help the body eliminate toxins, rest properly, avoid staying up late. Maintain a reasonable diet. Supplement vitamins for the body, such as vitamin B, C from citrus fruits, peppers, tomatoes. Vitamin E in soybeans, cereals, nuts increases skin moisture, anti-oxidation, reduces skin pigmentation.

More acne when using moisturizer in the summer may be due to the product not being suitable for your skin. You should use products containing hyaluronic acid, mineral water, which has the effect of hydrating and keeping the skin hydrated for many hours very effectively.
