VnExpressVnExpress04/08/2023

My skin often secretes a lot of oil, my face is shiny in the summer, is it because of excess moisture and I don't need to moisturize every day? (Ngoc, 22 years old, Hanoi )

Reply:

Summer weather and sunlight make the skin sweat a lot and the sebaceous glands are active, leading to acne or making acne worse. Sitting in air conditioning continuously also makes the skin dry and age quickly due to dehydration. Therefore, whether you have oily, dry or combination skin, you still need to use moisturizer every day.

You should apply moisturizer to your skin twice a day, morning and night. If you are afraid of clogged pores or often wear a mask, you can apply moisturizer once in the evening before going to bed.

The ideal amount of moisturizer for summer is about two pea-sized (3-5 ml) for a small face and three pea-sized (5-7 ml) for a large or square face. Using too much or too little can eliminate or reduce the moisturizing effect.

In hot weather, avoid oil-based moisturizers. This can clog pores and give bacteria a chance to thrive.

You should combine moisturizing and sun protection every day for optimal skin care and protection. Use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and cover up carefully before going out.

The criteria for beautiful skin is healthy skin. Therefore, you should provide comprehensive moisture to your skin, drink enough water to help your body eliminate toxins, rest properly, and avoid staying up late. Maintain a reasonable diet. Supplement your body with vitamins, such as vitamin B, C from citrus fruits, chili peppers, and tomatoes. Vitamin E in soybeans, cereals, and nuts increases skin moisture, is an antioxidant, and reduces skin pigmentation.

More acne when using moisturizer in the summer may be due to the product not being suitable for your skin. You should use products containing hyaluronic acid, mineral water, which has the effect of providing water and keeping water on the skin for many hours very effectively.
