Tien Yen commune is one of the most severely affected areas, with warnings of flash floods and widespread flooding in the coming days. According to data from hydrometeorological stations, the amount of rainfall measured from 7am on October 14 to 7am on October 15 in Tien Yen commune was 299mm, Bai Chay ward 252mm, and Uong Bi ward 93mm, showing the widespread impact of this rain.
In Tien Yen commune, many mountainous traffic routes, especially Dai Phong, Khe Muoi, Hua Cau, Thanh Phong, have suffered serious landslides. Some points had their slopes washed away by floodwaters, posing a danger to people and vehicles traveling.
Immediately after the incident, Tien Yen commune authorities and local people quickly mobilized vehicles, materials and human resources to make initial repairs and create temporary roads to ensure safety. Local authorities also advised people not to go through deeply flooded and landslide areas.

Notably, the water level on the Tien Yen River has risen, exceeding the alarm level. At 8:00 a.m. on October 15, the water level at Binh Lieu station was 0.89 m higher than alarm level 2. The flood level is forecast to peak in the morning of the same day, before starting to decrease. This situation poses a high risk of flash floods, landslides along the river, and localized flooding in low-lying areas. The rapid rise and fall of water levels also affects people's aquaculture and agricultural production.
Faced with the complicated weather situation, authorities have warned of a high risk of flash floods and landslides, especially at traffic works under construction and on mountain slopes. The level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain is determined to be level 1. Tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind are also likely to occur, endangering people and damaging structures.

Another notable incident that shows the danger of the flood occurred in Hai Lang commune. A clip circulating on social media recorded the scene of an 8-year-old child being swept away by floodwaters and having to cling to a tree branch. Fortunately, thanks to the timely rescue and shouts of local people, the child was brought to shore safely. The child was taken to a medical facility and is now in stable health.
Also on the morning of October 15, at the source of Ka Long River (old Mong Cai city area), the flood was very large and flowing rapidly. The authorities of the communes and wards in this area issued a warning to ensure safety to the people.
