Heavy rain, Quang Nam lets students stay home on September 19

On the afternoon of September 18, Mr. Thai Viet Tuong - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province signed an official dispatch allowing students to stay home from school to ensure safety in the face of floods.

Accordingly, implementing the telegram No. 07/CD-UBND dated September 17, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee on proactively responding to the tropical depression that is likely to strengthen into a storm, the Departmentof Education and Training of Quang Nam province requested units in the area to notify students to take a day off on September 19, assign on-duty staff and promptly report on the situation of storms, flash floods, damages and remedial measures to the Department of Education and Training for synthesis and reporting to the Provincial People's Committee.

On the same day, the Quang Nam Province Hydrometeorological Station informed that due to the influence of a tropical depression, the sea area of Quang Nam will have heavy showers and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours. During thunderstorms, it is necessary to be on guard against the possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Wind level 6, level 7, near the storm center level 8, gusting to level 10, wave height from 2.0 - 5.0m, rough seas.

From now until September 20, localities in Quang Nam province are likely to experience moderate to heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain; heavy to very heavy rain mainly concentrated from September 18 to September 19. Total rainfall in localities in the province is generally from 100 - 250mm, in some places over 300mm.
