Flood season in Hoang Su Phi

After the showers at the end of June, water flows down from the top of the high mountains - that is the time when the Hoang Su Phi terraced fields heritage area, located in the mountainous communes in the west of Tuyen Quang province, enters the water pouring season.

The terraced fields are evenly distributed in most mountainous communes in the west of Tuyen Quang province (communes in Hoang Su Phi district, former Ha Giang province).

Dao, Tay, and Nung ethnic groups build banks and retain water to prepare for the rice crop. The terraced fields are full of water, sparkling under the sunlight, as beautiful as a painting in the middle of the northernmost forest.

This is also the time when Hoang Su Phi attracts domestic and foreign tourists to visit and admire the beautiful moments of the terraced rice field heritage, which was formed from the hard work of ethnic people over many generations. After the flooding season, the terraced fields on the mountainside will be covered with the green color of young rice, then the golden season when the rice is ready to be harvested.

There are nearly 2,200 hectares of terraced fields located in the Hoang Su Phi terraced fields heritage area.
