Villa demand £40m to sell Martinez. |
Manchester United are actively looking for a new goalkeeper following Andre Onana's hamstring injury, with Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez emerging as a top target. However, the Red Devils' initial effort was quickly turned cold.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, MU sent a loan offer for Martinez to Aston Villa, but was immediately rejected by the Midlands team with an unbelievable attitude. Villa said that it was an unserious offer.
Villa "sees no benefit" in letting Martinez join United on loan. However, if they really want to own the 2022 World Cup winning goalkeeper, United will have to spend at least 40 million pounds, the valuation given by Villa.
Daily Mail revealed that MU is also said to be negotiating with Senne Lammens, 21-year-old goalkeeper of Royal Antwerp, with a transfer fee of around £17 million.
With Onana at risk of missing the start of the season, coach Ruben Amorim now has only Tom Heaton and Altay Bayindir as two experienced options in goal. Finding a replacement is a big priority in MU's transfer plan, along with a defensive midfielder and a quality striker.
At the same time, MU completed a £71 million deal to recruit Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, after previously having Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon. However, the "Red Devils" summer market is still very exciting ahead.
