Mbeumo is the blockbuster deal of the summer of 2025.

According to France Football, Troyes will receive 9.4 million euros from the Mbeumo deal, including 7.4 million euros from the resale clause agreed when Mbeumo moved from Troyes to Brentford in 2019, plus 2 million euros from youth training fees according to FIFA regulations.

Mbeumo is a product of Troyes' youth system, which he joined at the age of 14. He made his Troyes first-team debut in 2018, scoring 12 goals in 46 games before moving to Brentford in August 2019 for a fee of £5.8 million (around €6.6 million).

At Brentford, Mbeumo developed rapidly and then caught the eye of Manchester United. With the transfer fee of up to 9.4 million euros, Troyes can increase the budget for shopping and renovate the stadium and facilities.

Le Monde rated City Football Group, the owner of both Troyes and Man City, as the happiest people after Mbeumo officially joined Manchester United. The amount of 9.4 million euros is not big for teams like Man City or Man United, but it can change the face of a small team in Ligue 2 like Troyes.

CFG is one of the world's leading football business groups, owning shares in many clubs such as Man City, Girona, Troyes, Lommel or Bahia. Under the investment of the UAE, CFG built a massive network of satellite clubs around the world.

Inserting a buy-back clause when Mbeumo left Troyes in 2019 is part of CFG’s model, which it has implemented at clubs such as Troyes, Girona, Lommel and Bahia, allowing CFG to profit from the development of young talent as they move to the big leagues.

With many talents from CFG's satellite teams being linked with top European clubs, the model promises to bring in additional profits in the future.
