Apple CEO Tim Cook recently informed CNBC reporter Steve Kovach that the personalized version of Siri is still on track and is expected to officially launch in 2026. This new version of Siri was originally expected to be released on iPhone devices through the iOS 26.4 update in March this year, but Apple has repeatedly delayed it.

Also in a statement to Reuters , Mr. Cook reaffirmed that Apple is "making good progress" in developing an upgraded version of Siri. This comment was made just before the Corporation announced record earnings results for the third financial quarter of 2025.

Notably, the Apple CEO also made similar assertions about Siri's progress during a business results announcement meeting in July.

Apple first introduced Siri's personalization features at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) event in June 2024, but later announced a delay in its release in March this year.

This upgraded version of Siri is promoted by Apple as being equipped with groundbreaking new capabilities to enhance personalization and interaction efficiency.

Key improvements include: Deep personal context understanding, allowing the virtual assistant to grasp the user's unique context and habits; On-screen content awareness, allowing Siri to interact with and process information displayed directly on the device interface; and Multi-dimensional app control, providing deeper, more detailed control over specific apps.

To illustrate, Apple once demonstrated a scenario where an iPhone user asked Siri for information about their mother's flight and lunch reservations, where Siri seamlessly aggregated relevant data from apps like Mail and Messages.

Apple is currently facing a series of class action lawsuits related to the delay of announced features. Specifically, in a San Jose, California court, Apple is accused of false advertising and unfair competition for delaying features on Apple Intelligence and Siri, which were heavily promoted when launching iOS 18 and the iPhone 16 series.

The plaintiffs claim Apple created “consumer expectations that these new features would be available when the iPhone was released,” causing millions of customers to unnecessarily buy new phones. The lawsuit alleges that Apple advertised features that didn’t exist and continued to promote Siri’s capabilities even when it knew they wouldn’t be available on time.

The lawsuit alleges that “the products currently offer a significantly limited or completely absent version of Apple Intelligence, which is seriously misleading to consumers.” The plaintiffs are seeking class-action status along with related damages.
